Although the definition of “niche,” harem anime will forever have a place in seasonal lineups. The theme’s representatives might struggle to dominate the limelight at times, but when done right, they can be surprise hits.
As the concept only requires that the protagonist finds himself surrounded by potential partners, harem shows can cover a fairly wide spectrum of genres and tones. Most series fall under the romance and comedy sphere, but action or isekai harem anime are not unheard of either.
Each 2024 anime season includes at least a handful of harems. They might not be among the quarter’s biggest names, but they tend to attract a decent amount of attention as well, particularly when they are done competently or lean heavily into fanservice. Let’s take a look at every 2024 harem anime.
Updated November 14, 2024 by Mark Sammut: 2024 is steadily coming to an end, and while not necessarily amazing, its harem output has been pretty consistent. Each season contained a couple of genre representatives, including a few genuinely good ones. Fall 2024 is nearly halfway done by this point, and it is shaping up to be among the year’s strongest efforts in terms of harem content.
Chained Soldier
Winter 2024
Except for sequels, Chained Soldier will go down as one of the most highly-anticipated harem anime of 2024. The manga’s risqué nature is well-known for pushing the envelope in terms of ecchi content, and there was hope that the adaptation would translate or enhance the source material’s provocative material. Set in a world where Earth lives alongside another dimension filled with monsters, the premise follows a guy who becomes the slave of a group of girls who fight these beings. After using him as a soldier in battle, the girls reward him.

Solo Leveling, The Dangers in My Heart, and Classroom of the Elite are all contenders for the best Winter 2024 anime.
Unfortunately, the anime somewhat failed to live up to the manga’s reputation. While not terrible, the adaptation struggled to balance the action and ecchi scenes, with both elements feeling rushed in places. The source material not only has great fights but also sells its fanservice moments, two elements that are largely lackluster in the anime.
Tales Of Wedding Rings
Winter 2024
Winter 2024 was not lacking in isekai anime, but most of them did not lean into harem territory. The exception was Tales of Wedding Rings, a show that bakes its harem component directly into its story. Satou follows his crush, Hime, into a portal that leads to another world, and he learns that she is a princess who is about to marry a prince.
More importantly, this unique engagement grants her husband a magic ring that unlocks powers that will aid in fighting demons. In a twist of fate, Satou receives the ring, setting him on a path to “marry” other princesses to become the world’s savior. Tales of Wedding Rings is fairly enjoyable, mainly thanks to the likable Satou and Hime. That said, as a harem, it is quite strange since the story sets up a clear couple right from the start.
Isekai Onsen Paradise

Isekai Onsen Paradise
- Japanese Title
- Meitou “Isekai no Yu” Kaitakuki: Around 40 Onsen Mania no Tensei Saki wa, Nonbiri Onsen Tengoku deshita
- Release Date
- 2024-01-00
- Based On
- Light Novel
- Creator
- Konao Menrui
- MyAnimeList Score
- 5.27
One of the most ignored anime of Winter 2024, Isekai Onsen Paradise consists of 3-minute shorts that follow Kouzou, a guy who has been reincarnated into a fantasy world. He happens to be a hot spring aficionado, so he goes on a journey to discover as many of these natural baths as possible. Shockingly, this adventure winds up leading him to a plethora of women that fit into fantasy archetypes, be they fox girls or elves; consequently, Kouzou quickly grows a harem that can put to shame most of the genre’s other representatives.
Isekai Onsen Paradise does not have much to offer beyond the minimum. Generally, each episode focuses on introducing a new girl who must be convinced of the wonders of hot springs, with Kouzou doing his utmost to sell their therapeutic appeal (among other things). The characters are, unsurprisingly, shallow, and the humor is nothing to write home about. Even the ecchi content is quite timid compared to the other Winter 2024 harem anime or Gushing Over Magical Girls. Still, due to the show’s short length, Isekai Onsen Paradise is fairly inoffensive.
Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included
Spring 2024
Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included is a lighthearted romcom with a supernatural twist. One morning, Shintarou wakes up to find a strange girl, Towa, sleeping on his balcony. If that was not weird enough, she also has wings and proclaims to be an angel sent to Earth to mingle with humans. Long story short, Shintarou agrees to allow Towa to live with him as she is a bit too naive to be running around without supervision.

Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included sets itself to be a romance, with Towa and Shintarou presented as the main pairing; however, the manga quickly introduces new girls, turning the story into more of a harem. The source material leans heavily into wholesome comedy, with romance relegated to subtext (especially during the early volumes).
For the most part, the Spring 2024 anime is serviceable. Naive and innocent to a fault, Towa is cute and likable, even if she is not exactly the most exciting female character ever. The same can largely be said for Shintarou, who is a nice guy without all the negative connotations associated with that term. The rest of the girls are a bit more interesting, although they very much play second fiddle to Towa. Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included is one of those harems that clearly depicts one couple as the main pairing, which makes the “competition” feel redundant. That said, most of the other girls at least have something going on that allows them to shine away from Shintarou’s presence. The only slight exception is Tsumugi, a classmate who does not hide her intense feelings for Shintarou.
Re:Monster
Spring 2024
All things considered, most of Spring 2024’s isekai anime did not lean into harem territory. Sure, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, KonoSuba, and Mushoku Tensei flirt with the genre, but they are not part of it. If the criteria were extended to include reincarnation anime, The Misfit of Demon King Academy 2 could almost qualify, although Anos has a fan club rather than a harem. If the criteria were extended even further to include just basic fantasy shows, The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases has most of the pieces for a harem, but the show has no romantic edge whatsoever. It is also Spring 2024’s worst series.
So, that leaves Re:Monster, a dark fantasy anime about a former cannibal who reincarnates as a goblin and gains new abilities by eating monsters. Before long, Gobrou evolves into an ogre, takes charge of his clan, and starts to destroy human armies like they are just a minor annoyance. Naturally, a leader needs a harem, and Rou quickly finds himself surrounded by both goblin and human women. The former are attracted to the protagonist’s power, comparative intelligence, and authoritative diplomacy; meanwhile, the latter appreciate Rou because he didn’t kill them when they were captured. Yes, they are his captives. Yes, it is weird and uncomfortable. This element will probably make or break Re:Monster for quite a few people, especially since the anime is otherwise a relatively prototypical power fantasy.

Date A Live is a fun action sci-fi anime with great fights, generally solid animation, and a well-implemented harem component. The protagonist, Shido, must protect the world from special quakes by sealing Spirits, which come in the form of girls. As the process involves making them fall in love with him, Shido must grow his harem to become the savior he needs to be.

Best Spring 2024 Anime To Watch, Ranked
KonoSuba, Demon Slayer, Kaiju No. 8, Laid-Back Camp, and My Hero Academia are all competing to be the best anime of the Spring 2024 season.
In the fifth season, Date a Live firmly enters its endgame. Shido and his Spirits army engage in quite a few intense battles, be it against DEM or their complicated relationship with Kurumi. The Spirit of Origin’s arrival has also thrown everything into disarray, and all parties have their own ideas on how to deal with this world-ending danger.
The Spring 2024 season is impenetrable to newcomers, who should unquestionably start from the beginning. While not without its lulls, Date a Live is generally pretty consistent, so it should be a fun ride. Furthermore, people specifically interested in the harem will get a lot more enjoyment out of the first two seasons as they emphasize that aspect a lot more. Seasons 4 and 5 are more action-focused than the older entries.
The Café Terrace And Its Goddesses Season 2
Summer 2024
Similar to the 2023 season, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses delivered another solid and dependable batch of harem shenanigans for its sequel. While not pushing the envelope, the series highlights the genre’s broad appeal: likable characters, a strong male lead, and quite a bit of humor. The first season suffered from a terrible opening episode that villainized the girls, and this early stumble threatened to derail the whole series. Fortunately, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses steadied itself within a couple of weeks by allowing the girls’ individuality to shine through, all the while showcasing that Hayato might just be one of the best male protagonists in the harem genre.
Season 2 benefits greatly from already having all the relationship groundwork done, allowing the core friendships to carry most segments while steadily sprinkling in some romance. That said, the Summer 2024 sequel took a risk by basically doubling the number of girls through the introduction of a rival cafeteria, a plot thread that has not amounted to much at this point. While crowded at times, the new girls are mostly just there to be friends with the main group, rather than new competitors striving for Hayato’s eye.
2.5 Dimensional Seduction
Summer 2024
2.5 Dimensional Seduction is such a trip, and that is meant 100% as a compliment. Initially, the anime comes across as a by-the-numbers ecchi harem that mostly uses cosplay as a reason to throw out fanservice. However, as the season has progressed, the show has slowly demonstrated a genuine passion for that community, diving into the culture and work that goes into bringing fictional characters to life. A tournament is even on the horizon.

The Summer 2024 anime season has Oshi no Ko, Tower of God, Monogatari, Fairy Tail, and many new series. Here are the best Summer 2024 anime.
As a harem, 2.5 Dimensional Seduction is kind of uneven, mainly due to Ririsa being very obviously presented as the main girl. A few other contenders have been introduced, but they come across as supporting characters rather than real alternatives who have a chance of taking Masamune’s hand.
Speaking of the male lead, Masamune is decent. His backstory involves being mostly into 2D girls due to a fear of rejection, but he learns to appreciate cosplay as a middle-ground between fantasy and reality. He also just wants to keep his club alive.
2.5 Dimensional Seduction
is set for 24 episodes, so it will be airing throughout Fall 2024 as well.
Pseudo Harem (Sort Of, Kind Of, But Not Really)
Summer 2024
Admittedly, this recommendation comes with a huge asterisk since, as implied by its title, Pseudo Harem is not a harem. Or, to be exact, it is a one-girl harem. Determined to make her senpai happy, Rin puts her acting chops to good use by adopting different waifu personalities, all of whom are seemingly in love with Eiji. Overflowing with silliness and mostly presented in good faith with both characters enjoying the performance, Pseudo Harem is largely a standard rom-com that uses harem as a vehicle to further the relationship of its main couple. Naturally, Rin is genuinely in love with Eiji, but the latter believes her displays of affection are just part of the act.
If watching girls duke it out in a love battle royale is somebody’s favorite part of a harem story, they will not find much to latch onto in this series; however, Pseudo Harem plays into the genre’s conventions quite well, all the while not going out of its way to mock them. More importantly, it is wholesome and cute, with two endearing leads who are just adorably awkward.
Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister
Fall 2024
Out of Fall 2024’s harem content, Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister is the best overall pick for people seeking a traditional entry. An orphan, Uryuu is allowed to move into a shrine so he can focus on his studies, which proves to be easier said than done as three sister maidens keep on getting in the way. They are also not especially excited about sharing their home with a boy, particularly Yuna, a situation that is made worse when they are informed that one of them will need to marry their guest to keep the shrine alive. Uryuu is not particularly happy about this condition either.
Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister is kind of basic, a feeling amplified by the fact that Fall 2024 also includes a new adaptation of Ranma ½, arguably the most famous anime about an arranged marriage featuring a male lead and three sisters. That said, comfort can be found in predictability, and Amagami mostly delivers a pleasant and competent regurgitation of genre tropes.

Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister

Loner Life in Another World
Fall 2024
OK, this isekai anime just about qualifies, although it has only hinted at harem ingredients so far and will likely never dive into proper romance. Still, the protagonist should eventually be surrounded by girls, pretty much all of whom have already been introduced.
Loner Life in Another World will be divisive, largely thanks to Haruka being a rather exhausting MC who never stops speaking. To be fair, he can be quite funny at times, even if the jokes do not land all that regularly.
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? 5 (Kind Of)
Fall 2024
DanMachi is not 100% a harem, mainly because Bell is utterly incapable of recognizing that someone is romantically interested in him. That said, the anime takes some elements from the genre, and every arc seems to introduce a girl who, ultimately, develops feelings for the protagonist. Ryuu got an incredible spotlight during season 4, and she joined a stacked lineup that includes Hestia, Lili, and Ais (technically, although not really at the moment). The upcoming season will focus on Freya, who has a unique interest in Bell.

Putting aside the very limited harem aspect, DanMachi is primarily worth watching for its fantastic action, great world-building, and lovable characters. While not every season has been amazing, the show has been constantly watchable, and the last entry was comfortably the best so far. Season 5 has been great and intense so far, and its first few episodes had a pretty heavy “harem” quality to them.
Ranma ½
Fall 2024
Ranma 1/2
- Studio
- MAPPA
- Based On
- Manga
- Creator
- Rumiko Takahashi
- MyAnimeList Score
- 8.05
Something of a borderline case, Ranma ½ is like a precursor to harems, albeit one that has a very clear main couple who do not entertain other potential partners. Rumiko Takahashi’s classic manga produced a great anime adaptation in the late ’80s and ’90s, and MAPPA’s 2024 revival maintains that high standard of quality. The animation is top-notch, the humor is timeless, and the martial arts sequences are surprisingly impressive.
Now, is Ranma ½ a harem? Well, the answer is both yes and no. Ranma and Akane are reluctantly engaged to eventually marry each other, even though they do not initially get along. Both leads attract fairly constant interest from other characters, which sets up the foundation for a harem. However, these obstacles are closer to enemies of the week than actual love interests.

2021’s Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles has received a sequel. The isekai anime has the potential for growth since the opening season set up quite a few interesting concepts without expanding on them in great detail. While nothing special, season 2 has been generally OK, with the most interesting element being the arrival of a few new characters from Earth.

Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest Season 3
Fall 2024
While Ryo Shirakome’s isekai light novel is quite respected, the anime adaptation of Arifureta got off to a rough start, and the first season was regarded by many as something of a disappointment. Despite still having its share of issues, season 2 improved upon its predecessor in most ways, resulting in a package that is fairly easy to enjoy regardless of its faults. In its opening episodes, Arifureta appears to set itself up for a romance rather than a harem. After being betrayed by his schoolmates and left to die in a dungeon, Hajime winds up meeting Yue, a vampire. These two characters instantly hit it off, and they essentially act as the story’s beating heart.
Initially, the anime revolves around just Hajime and Yue as they explore dungeons while the former gradually becomes stronger. However, they are eventually joined by a few other girls, paving the way for Arifureta to become a full-blown harem. Underwhelming start aside, this series is perfectly enjoyable fluff; that said, it is isekai and harem fluff. Consequently, for this show to land with someone, they need to be fans of both genres and their many, many tropes.
Season 3 continues on its predecessor’s work, delivering an unapologetic power fantasy that embraces harem tropes completely. The current arc finds the hero being caught in the middle of a potential war that could see them go up against the Empire.
Anime With Some Harem Elements
Harem does not always take center stage, and a few series might touch upon ideas from the theme without committing to it. The upcoming anime might not be full-blown harems, but they could satisfy fans of the concept.
