MTG Marvel Secret Lair Cards Reportedly Going Missing

MTG Marvel Secret Lair Cards Reportedly Going Missing

Key Takeaways

  • Several MTG players report their Marvel Secret Lair Superdrops missing cards.
  • Some speculate theft, while others believe it’s a problem with packaging.
  • Not everyone is missing cards, however. Others have been sent duplicates or haven’t even received their packages to begin with.

The Magic: The Gathering Marvel Secret Lair Superdrop is finally here, but several players report missing cards, with some even alleging that they’ve been stolen.

Missing Cards, Claims Of Theft, Duplicates, Damaged Boxes, And More

“I just received my Iron Man Secret Lair last night and the envelope was empty except for the thank you note,” one such claim reads on the MTG subreddit. “Already contacted [Wizards of the Coast] and am waiting for a response”.

Commenters claim to have had the exact same experience, receiving sealed envelopes without cards inside, just thank you notes.

Another Reddit post was simply titled “Stolen Marvel Secret Lair”, alleging that they received their box in a “damaged bag from USPS” with the Captain America drop missing. “Unable to get a claim out for USPS because the package was not insured,” they explain. “Awaiting a response from Wizards”.

Not everyone is convinced that this is a case of theft, however. One commenter suggests that the drop may have been lost when the package was damaged, especially as OP explains that “the box came in a bag”.

Another Reddit post claims that they received their Secret Lair without sealing, attaching doorbell camera footage of the package being delivered as proof. You can see it embedded above.

Like many others, they claim that there was nothing in the box. But they don’t believe it was stolen. Instead, they speculate that Wizards “shipped an empty box and that’s why it wasn’t taped, because the order wasn’t fulfilled”.

Commenters on this thread also shared similarly frustrating stories, claiming that their packages haven’t arrived, or if they did, had decks replaced with duplicates. Some also had unsealed boxes like OP, but luckily the cards were still inside.

It’s a strange situation, and if these claims are true, then it’s far from an isolated incident. Wizards of the Coast has yet to publicly comment, however.
