Dragon Quest 3 Remake: Mur Village Quest Guide

The village of Mur is isolated from everywhere else in the world of DQ3, but it has some personal memories for your hero to witness.

There is a way to navigate this though, but that requires the Rainbow Drop. This isn’t just one item you can find though, and requires journeying the length and breadth of Alefgard in search of its component parts. Let’s find them.

How To Get The Sunstone

DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake picking up the Sunstone from Tantegel Castle.

The very first of these that you can find is the Sunstone. While few will give you hints of where exactly it can be found, one familiar face will – Robbin’ ‘Ood. Locked in a prison cell next to the church, he shares a helpful nugget of info with you to prove he’s turned a new leaf.

The Sunstone is hidden away in Castle Tantegel, he claims. And true to his word, it actually is. It is located on the second floor in an isolated chest. That’s it. Part one of three down.

How To Get The Staff Of Rain

DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake the party being given the staff of rain.

The Staff of Rain is the next piece you can collect, and requires journeying quite a bit farther than Tantegel. This area, the Shrine of the Spirit, is found south of Cantlin behind the mountains and in a toxic marsh. Use Safe Passage when traversing this to avoid damage.

Once inside, simply make your way upstairs. Here you will meet a Faerie with the title ‘Servant of Rubiss’. She reveals that voice you heard on the day of your sixteenth birthday and throughout your journey was her. A rather major revelation revealed quite casually.

As thanks for seeking her out and your promise to save Rubiss and defeat Zoma, she offers you the Staff of Rain. You’re now one step closer to creating the Rainbow Drop.

How To Get The Sacred Amulet

DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake the party being given the sacred amulet by rubiss.

The final piece of the Rainbow Drop you need to acquire, and the most difficult by far. It is gained by saving Rubiss from the self-named Tower of Rubiss. It’s not as easy as the Shrine of Spirits though, so get prepared for a strenuous journey.

The Tower of Rubiss has you scale multiple levels, weave around to reach hidden floors, and battle a familiar foe once again all to reach Rubiss’ petrified body. Except now you need the Faerie Flute to wake her. Head to Kol in the north-east of the map and find it resting by the hot springs in the north of town.

With Faerie Flute in tow and the boss defeated, you can free Rubiss. She will thank you for your help, and offer you the Sacred Amulet as thanks, the final piece in the puzzle to defeat Zoma. She also tells you where to go next, the Sanctum. Head there now.

Using The Rainbow Drop

The Sanctum that Rubiss spoke of is found in the south-east of the map on an island of its own. Sail down there and weave your way inside to find a shrine with little in it beyond a priest awaiting your presence, and a recruitable monster hiding in the north-west of the second floor.

Speak with the priest and he will take the pieces to create the Rainbow Drop. This doesn’t use up the Sacred Amulet, so you get to keep it as an accessory. The priest then offers you directions to the peninsula north-west of Rimuldar, where the Rainbow Drop will form a bridge to Zoma’s Citadel.

Head there now to form the bridge, using up the Rainbow Drop, and creating a permanent bridge. The way to Zoma is clear.

Make sure to gather up the Sword of Kings, Hero’s Shield, and Auroral Helmet and Armour before heading in. They’ll be a big help.
