Fishing is one of the easiest ways to produce a lot of food for your villagers in Sengoku Dynasty. As long as you have a village with access to a body of water, you can start hauling in huge quantities of fish daily throughout the year, regardless of the season.
With all the hunting, farming, and other pursuits to do in the game, it can be easy to forget about the power of the humble fisherfolk. If you let them do their job, though, your village’s fishers will also provide you with shells and oil for advanced crafting.
How To Build A Fisherman’s Hut In Sengoku Dynasty
Unlike most of the buildings in Sengoku Dynasty, a Fisherman’s Hut must be built partially over water. That means that if you’re trying to build one in a village that’s completely landlocked, you’re out of luck. Luckily, most of the game’s regions have at least some water access; the Sosogi and Enjiro regions are on the coast, while most of the southern area of the map has rivers. You’ll have a much harder time fishing in the mountainous northern areas.
The Fisherman’s Hut is listed in the build menu as a Production Building, the same category as Foragers and Workshops.
Once completed, a Fisherman’s Hut comes with bedding for one villager, as well as a workstation for crafting ropes and nets and a fisher’s workplace to actually go out and catch fish.

How To Make And Use Fishing Nets In Sengoku Dynasty
Fishers need fishing nets to be able to bring in their daily catch, which are made at a fishing net workstation by combining four ropes. The easiest way to make ropes is to craft them from straw at the same workstation.
Straw can be made by gathering grass and placing on a drying rack. It’s best to automate this process by having a forager collect grass while another villager operates the drying rack, but if you’re in a pinch you can use a kama to quickly harvest grass on your own.
Fishing nets wear out and eventually need to be replaced, but it’s a fairly slow process – you can get away with making nets a few at a time on your own and keeping them in storage, rather than assigning a villager to making them. Just remember to top them up every few seasons and you should be fine.
Once a Fisherman’s Hut is built and you have at least one fishing net, assign a villager to the workstation and equip them with a net from the Jobs Menu. They can produce several dozen fish per day, which can be cooked at a hearth or kitchen to further increase the village’s food output. If you don’t need quite that many fish, your fishers can also produce shells for crafting prayer beads, or use water to convert some of their fish to oil.
Any fish that go uneaten will eventually rot, and can be turned into fertilizer in a compost heap.
Can You Manually Fish In Sengoku Dynasty?
There is currently no way for player characters to catch fish in Sengoku Dynasty; this is one job that must be done by villagers assigned to the task. You can craft fishing nets for them and build their workplaces, but that’s the extent of your involvement in the process.
