Key Takeaways
- A Pokemon fan recreated iconic critters such as Mewtwo and Squirtle in Spore, achieving hilarious results.
- Some Spore-designed Pokemon like Pinsir and Sandslash had comical features that stood out.
- This isn’t the first time fans have recreated Pokemon in Spore.
A Pokemon fan has recently remade eight Pokemon in Spore, including popular critters such as Mewtwo and Squirtle. While Spore has an in-depth character creator that can be used to come up with countless different species, its aesthetics do not mix well with Pokemon’s, which enabled this fan to achieve a hilarious result.
Spore is a god simulator game with real-time strategy elements released in 2008 by Maxis and EA. In Spore, players get to control a species from its humble beginnings as a microscopic organism in the ocean until becoming a widespread civilization and reaching for the stars. Despite suffering from several delays, Spore was a big hit, and it’s still remembered by some fans of the genre even today.

Pokemon Fan Designs Human Version of Raichu
A Pokemon fan artist devises an adorable human version of Raichu, the famous Gen 1 Electric-type evolution of the iconic Pikachu.
Now, a Pokemon fan called Ogabooga712 decided to remake Mewtwo, Squirtle, Shedinja, Delibird, Pinsir, Larvitar, Sandslash, and Jirachi using Spore and shared the hilarious results with the community. Mewtwo, for example, still retained its white and purple colors but was depicted with a weird round head and an absurdly big mouth, while Squirtle did not look like a turtle at all, with its appearance more like some kind of bird with a shell on its back.
Mewtwo, Squirtle, Shedinja, and Other Pokemon Remade in Spore
While all the Pokemon created by this fan of the popular god sim title were equally hilarious, some achieved cooler results than others. For instance, Pinscir looked very interesting with its comically big mouth and huge horns, and the yellow Sandslash with bug eyes was also an alien creature that stood apart from the other designs.
This was not the first time someone recreated Pokemon using Spore, though. Back in 2021, a fan tried to come up with other critters, such as Blastoise, Lapras, Jigglypuff, Venusaur, and others. While the shape of these creatures was somewhat more accurate than what Ogabooga712 created more recently, the results were nonetheless still uncanny, with all Pokemon having very weird eyes and some of them displaying wrong body proportions like Blastoise.
Not all creations made by Pokemon fans are this weird, though. Last week, for example, another fan designed five Paradox Pokemon, sharing some really well-made designs with the community. At the time, the fan designed new future Paradox forms for Rowlet, Gengar, Lechonk, Trapinch, and Skorupi, reimagining these monsters in different forms, such as flying orbs or excavators. These works showcase how dedicated the Pokemon community is, whether creating beautiful, unique new designs, or adorable aberrations such as these monsters created in Spore.
