Relatively early on in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you have to choose to protect either Minrathous and the Shadow Dragons or Treviso and the Crows. This isn’t an easy choice, because the place you don’t choose will suffer significantly.
This choice also has effects on your party members, and it determines which quests you can access in either location. The quest “A Crow and a Gentleman” is only available to Dragon Age: The Veilguard players who leave Treviso to the blight.

Starting The Quest – Where to Find Chance Candide
To start this quest, you need to choose to save Minrathous, and you then need to wait until Lucanis rejoins the team. At some point after that, the Crow leaders will have a new quest for you when you revisit Treviso.
To locate your target, Chance Candide, start by following the quest markers to the market. You can teleport there if you unlocked the Treviso fast-travel beacons again, but if you do, you’ll miss the Antaam massacre located just outside the market. You don’t need to see this, but Rook will comment on the bodies as you pass through.
If this is your first trip through blighted Treviso, you’ll find a blight barrier in your way. The boils you need to burst are to the right of the barrier, and on the outside of the wooden wall you passed through to reach the barrier.
The Market Master you need to see is just to the right as you enter the market square. She’ll explain that Chance killed the Antaam, then left for the Drowned District to the south.
How to Unblock the Bridge
On your way south to the Drowned District, you’ll probably come across a bridge with a blight barrier in the way. The other path to the district is locked, and you’ll need to figure out how to unblock the bridge to continue.
You’ve probably encountered blight boils that block passages before now, but this time, the boils are also dark. What you need to do is use Davrin’s Blight Hunter ability to attack the pale blight abscess on the right side of the bridge. Doing so will light up the boils on the near and far walls around the bridge, and bursting them both will let you cross the bridge.
Blight Hunter is temporary, and you’ll need to use it again if you don’t hit both boils within a few seconds.
Of course, just like the barrier to the market square, the bridge barrier is around even before you start this side quest. If you explored Treviso earlier, you can teleport straight to the Drowned District beacon.

How to Beat Chance Candide
From the Drowned District beacon, go southeast to the sinking houses. You’ll see a blight pillar in the back, and you may have to fight some darkspawn to reach it. Make sure you defeat all of them before continuing because the extra enemies will make fighting Chance even harder.
When you’re ready, destroy the three marked blight boils, then attack the top of the blight pillar. Blighted Chance will jump out of it and attack. Chance is a level 30 enemy that’s strong against necrotic damage but weak to fire. He also has an armor bar, and he exclusively uses melee attacks.
Aside from Chance, you can also expect to fight the hurlock spikers and ghoul bursters that will constantly spawn in. The only way to stop them is to kill Chance, so stay mobile and focus your attacks on the boss. The moment he goes down, all the lesser darkspawn in the area will vanish on the spot.
Once Chance breathes his last, head back to the Crows’ hideout to complete this quest. Your rewards include 200 gold, 5 Fade-Touched Crystals, and +250 Crows Strength.
