dev1ce to miss PW Shanghai Major 2024 due to ‘stress-related health challenges’

Astralis AWPer and former IGL Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz has revealed that “stress-related health challenges” will prevent him from competing for the team at the upcoming PW Shanghai Major 2024 European RMRs. If Astralis make it to the Major, he will not compete at the event, confirming he’s out until 2025.

In a statement posted to Twitter, dev1ce confirmed that “stepping back to focus on my health is the right choice” after discussions with a medical. According to dev1ce, he had been suffering from “less sleep, cramps, heart palpitations and extreme fatigue” when in Singapore for the BLAST World Final, and symptoms have yet to improve.

It’s an unfortunate turn of events for four-time CS:GO Major winner dev1ce, who faced a similar situation back in his Ninjas in Pyjamas stint. He missed essentially the entire 2022 season before returning to Astralis in great form. As of right now, dev1ce has confirmed he expects to return to competitive play “in the beginning of the new season next year.”

In the meantime, benched Astralis rifler Alexander “br0” Bro will return to the active roster for the rest of the year, while IGL Casper “cadiaN” Møller will presumably return to his comfortable role of primary AWPer. Astralis are set to face 9Pandas in the opening match of EU RMR B for the PW Shanghai Major 2024.
