Key Takeaways
- Treyarch and Activision have been committed to finding and eliminating cheaters in Black Ops 6 to help ensure a fun playing experience.
- After outlining plans ahead of launch, Treyarch has added some new changes via the Season 01 patch.
- Among those changes are the requirement of 50 match-based multiplayer matches to unlocked Ranked Play, as well as enhanced ping detection.
If there is one thing that Treyarch is committed to during its support of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, it’s combating cheaters and bad actors. After all, there’s no quicker way to have your game die than for it to be overrun by cheaters.
In the leadup to Black Ops 6’s release, Activision and Treyarch jointly outlined their plans to quickly handle bad actors. Those plans included a framework to catch and remove cheaters within one hour of their infraction, with internal progress being monitored through a “Time to Action” measure.
Additionally, there were also details related to preventing cheaters from even entering a match in the first place through enhanced detection. Those measures resulted in 12,000 bans during the game’s beta before they had a chance to play a match.
Now, following Black Ops 6’s release, Treyarch has once again added to its cheating mechanisms.

We Will Find You
As outlined in the Season 01 patch notes, several new updates have been added to the game to ward off bad actors. First off, moving forward, to unlock Ranked Play, a player must win 50 match-made multiplayer matches. In other words, no private lobby boosting.
This has been implemented so that only experienced players can compete in Ranked Play, but to also give Treyarch’s anti-cheat measures a large enough sample to examine. Top players will also have their matches reviewed by a Replay Investigation Tool to ensure no funny business is going on.
Elsewhere, account boosting is being fought against through enhanced AFK measures. Additionally, those who try to use a VPN to change their server region will also find that ping thresholds have been put in place to ensure a player is in the correct region.
The full list of notes can be found on the Call of Duty blog, including more multiplayer and campaign fixes. If it wasn’t already clear that Activision and Treyarch were going to do their best to make Black Ops 6 a cheat-free experience, it’s even more abundantly clear now. And there’s no doubt that even more changes could be on the way as cheaters attempt to switch up their methods.
