Cause even more carnage with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s scorestreaks.

You can look at Black Ops 6 differently depending on which mode you’re playing. The best multiplayer beginner tips don’t necessarily work in zombies, and so on. We’ll go over three of the most important things you should do as a beginner in each of the modes.

Single-Player Campaign Beginner’s Tips

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Campaign Safe House

The Black Ops 6 campaign is great, with plenty of gameplay variety, interesting set pieces, and the series’ trademark weirdness. It’s also one of the tougher campaigns you’ll play, with some missions pitting you against overwhelming odds with limited firepower. Here are a few tips to make the experience easier and more fun.

Get The Best Bench And Training Area Upgrades

Shortly after arriving at the Rook safe house, you’ll be able to add three different upgrade stations to it: a weapon bench, a gear station, and a training area. Unlocking each costs $500, and with each upgrade, it can grant a small additional cost.

Of the three, the gear bench should be your first unlock, for one main reason: the Heavy Duty perk, which increases the amount of armor slots you have in missions. Quick Fix is another good one, allowing you to replace armor plates with a single hand, leaving the other open to shoot your weapon.

Spend your next $500 to unlock the training area and grab Survivor for better health regeneration, Greedy for the additional money from Elite enemy kills, and Blast Resilience for explosive damage reduction.

That makes the weapon bench your final safe house upgrade, and there are two main reasons. The first is the Armor Shredder perk, which increases the damage you do to armored enemies. The second is to unlock weapon blueprints for multiplayer for a whopping $3,000, but those allow you to bypass some weapon-level grinding on that particular weapon.

In addition, you should consider unlocking:

Training Area

Vitality Surge

It’s hard to beat a up to a flat 25% health bonus.

Iron Will

Flinch is one of the most annoying mechanics in Black Ops 6, and this perk reduces it by up to 80%.

Bloodlust

Killing three enemies to activate this perk’s health-boosting effect could save your life at the most important time.

Gear Station

Blade Shrapnel

The Homing Knife is probably the best Lethal equipment in the campaign, and make it deadlier makes any enemy you hit with it die faster.

Tempered

Armor plates can be a godsend in the campaign, and being able to refill your vest in one less plate saves time and, perhaps, your life.

Weapons Bench

Extra Mags

More magazines equal more time with your starting weapon, which usually means more time with the best weapon available for that mission.

Steady Stance

Guns in Black Ops 6 are already pretty easy to control, but this perk reduces their recoil by up to 40%.

Quick Hands

Remove one of the most common forms of FPS downtime by reducing your reload time by up to 25%.

Complete Hidden Objectives

The Dark Ops challenges progression screen in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Black Ops 6 changes up its mission formula regularly, going from stealth assassination to open world to high-action spy thriller. You can play each mission in traditional Call of Duty fashion, guns blazing, but if you want to complete the campaign Dark Ops Challenges, you’ll need to play differently than the series has historically taught.

One of the “easier” Dark Ops challenges is during the Most Wanted mission. The challenge is to make your way to Adler without alerting the guards.

Other Dark Ops tasks ask you to use similar out-of-the-box thinking and more unique strategies to complete mission objectives, so if you can think of a way to finish a mission that sounds more fun than brute forcing through it, don’t be afraid to try them. You might be rewarded.

Multiplayer Beginner’s Tips

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Multiplayer Nuketown

Black Ops 6 multiplayer isn’t a significant departure from previous games in terms of map design and weapon handling, but the omnimovement system adds just enough variety that the experience requires an adjustment period. There are a few things you can do to make the transition easier.

Level Your Guns On Strike Maps Or In Zombies Before Going Into Core

The Stakeout 24/7 multiplayer playlist in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

The new Strike maps are designed for absolute chaos. Maps like Stakeout are tiny, and with twelve players on a postage stamp, you hardly need to walk three feet to get into a firefight. Matches are quick, and the weapon XP you get is plentiful (despite a patch middling nerfing it).

You won’t necessarily learn any fundamentals or core mode map knowledge, but a lot of the guns in Black Ops 6 perform much better with attachments, and having access to even a few good ones can make using even the worst of them a much simpler experience.

If you want a slightly more chill weapon leveling experience, head into Round-Based Zombies and get as many Critical Zombie Kills as possible. These award the most weapon experience, and while zombies do technically fight back, they aren’t nearly as much of a threat as even a below-average player in the PVP mode.

Use Non-Lethal Scorestreaks To Level Up Faster

Ever since scorestreaks made their debut in Black Ops 2, choosing to run non-lethal options — UAV and Counter-UAV — has been a fantastic way to level up more quickly without needing to do incredibly well in the kill/death department. They’re also relatively easy to acquire, and with Black Ops 6 maps being so small, you can rack up lots of additional points without doing much work at all.

You should also consider adding a SAM Turret to your non-lethal scorestreak loadout because you won’t be the only player in the lobby spamming UAVs and Counter-UAVs. Not only will a SAM Turret remove those pesky flyers from the skies, but you’ll also get free points for doing so and give your team an edge with the minimap.

Use Green Strategist Perks For Easier Scorestreaks

You can make earning scorestreaks a breeze if you equip three green Strategist perks and unlock the Strategist Combat Specialty. Not only does the Specialty let you see enemy equipment like Trophy Systems and Assault Packs through walls, but you also get 50 extra score for destroying them. You earn 50 score for completing objectives as well, including every tag claimed in Kill Confirmed.

Be sure you place the Dispatcher perk in your second perk slot, as it reduces the cost of non-lethal scorestreaks by 50-150, depending on the streak.

If you’re using the Perk Greed Wildcard, you can even add the red Bankroll perk to your loadout, reducing your scorestreak costs by 150 every time you spawn. UAVs and Counter-UAVs are almost free at that point.

Zombies Beginner’s Tips

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Solo Zombies Cutscene

Round-based Zombies is back in Black Ops 6, and the experience is similar to the one you may have played back in Black Ops Cold War. Getting good at Zombies in Black Ops 6, therefore, follows a similar track.

Unlock The Whole Map As Soon As Possible

One of the keys to surviving Round-Based Zombies is the freedom to use every exit strategy available. To give yourself as many options as possible, spend your first few thousand Essence points to unlock all the doors on the map. If you need to turn on power, prioritize that, as well.

You can ideally have the entire map open for traversal by round five, allowing you to escape a sticky situation and catch a breather, load up on ammo, new perks, and supplies, or whatever else you might need to take care of.

Find Easy Kiting Spots

Kiting a group of zombies in round-based zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

“Kiting zombies” means you let a large group of them spawn and run around in a rough circle to group up, then turn around and kill as many as you can (usually until your magazine runs dry).

There are several good kiting zones on each Zombies map, sometimes in the starting area, like on Liberty Falls or at the main lab area on Terminus. Here are a few others to consider:

Map Name

Kiting Zone

Description

Liberty Falls

Spawn area

The starting area of Liberty Falls is a solid kiting zone, with enough space to get through the horde as well as enough obstacles to funnel them.

Near truck by Juggernog

The main benefit of this spot is the trapped chokepoint leading to the church and easy escape down the road to the starting area.

The parking lot in front of the church

Here, you have easy access to ammo, Pack-a-Punch, a weapon upgrade machine, and several escape routes.

Terminus

The main lab

The lab at the center of Terminus has many escape routes, Pack-a-Punch, upgrade stations, and enough chokepoints that funneling zombies is child’s play.

Near the boat spawn

The beach area with the boat spawn is open enough to easily make it through hordes and offers enough obstacles to group zombies efficiently.

On the platform with the satellite dish

This kiting spot is more traditional. You’ll run in a rough oval, keeping to the edges of the space to avoid taking too many hits.

Use Scorestreaks As Emergency Buttons

Using the Muntant Injection item to escape a zombie horde in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Killing Manglers and looting the vault on Liberty Falls or the armory on Terminus have a chance to give you a scorestreak, and if you have one like Mutant Injector or Chopper Gunner, you can use it when surrounded by zombies as an emergency button.

Calling in a chopper gunner removes you from the zombies’ attention while it’s active and it can kill the beasts by the dozen. The Mutant Injector turns you into a Mangler, killing everything in close proximity when activated and letting you tear through hosts of zombies with a few attacks.

Smart use of a scorestreak or Mutant Injection, when zombies have you cornered, can save runs at any round number, as they thin the opposition and temporarily remove any threat of being downed.
