Astro Bot's Final DLC Bots Are Wesker And Cayde-6, Credits Hint At More Cameos

The fifth and final Astro Bot speedrun DLC level is here, bringing the curtain down on the announced post-launch run for the popular PS5 exclusive. However, despite Team Asobi not announcing what’s coming next, if anything at all, Astro Bot’s end credits, not to mention an addition that has been made to them since launch, suggest there are more levels to come, or at the very least more VIP Bots.

Within seconds of the confirmation that Astro Bot would be getting DLC, and ten new Bots along with it, players started to try and guess who those Bots might be. The reveal trailer for the five speedrun levels confirmed that two of those ten would be a Helldiver, and Eve from Stellar Blade. As new levels dropped, it quickly became clear that quite a few of the new Bots would be Helldivers.

There’s even a pair of socks covered in some of Astro Bot’s most adorable animals.

A new character has joined them in each level however, including Eve, the protagonist from Rise of the Ronin, Nariko from Heavenly Sword, and Ky from Guilty Gear. This week in the final DLC level there was no Helldiver, but two new VIP Bots – Cayde-6 from Destiny, and Wesker from Resident Evil. However, there are still some absences from the expansive Astro Bot VIP collection that have left some of us puzzled, and I’m not talking about the lack of Final Fantasy characters.

Even before Team Asobi confirmed Astro Bot would be getting DLC, the more attentive among you noticed that the studio had thanked some fellow developers in the game’s end credits despite none of their characters making cameo appearances in the game. Most notable are the hat tips to various Ubisoft series and their creators. Assassin’s Creed, Rayman, and Beyond Good & Evil are all mentioned in Astro’s credits yet they don’t have Bots in the game, nor have they been added via DLC.

It has also been highlighted on the Astro Bot subreddit (thanks, VGC), that since Astro Bot’s launch, a special thanks to Tomba and its developers has quietly been added to the credits. All of the above plus a shoutout to Croc points to there being more Astro DLC to come even though this first run of speedrun levels has now come to an end. With Croc’s remaster currently slated to release in December, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows now launching in February 2025, perhaps we could see more spaced-out Bot reveals that potentially line up with the releases of the missing characters’ respective games, provided they have new releases on the horizon, of course. Sorry for the reminder, Rayman fans.
