The Last Of Us Season 2 Tees Off In Spring 2025

While not a specific premiere date, HBO has announced a release window for The Last of Us Season 2. Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are set to be seen together on the small screen again in Spring 2025.

IGN reports that HBO and Max content CEO Casey Bloys revealed the spring window for the video game adaptation during a presentation to journalists yesterday, November 12. Earlier this week, a Max trailer for 2025 unveiled new footage for The Last of Us Season 2. The clips hint at distance growing between Joel and Ellie, as well as an infected swarm charging what is likely the town of Jackson.

Previously, The Last of Us Season 2 was planned to launch in 2025–even before the historic Hollywood strikes last year. In September, Bloys hinted that the show would return in the first half of next year. The first season premiered in January 2023 on HBO (as well as streamed on Max).

The sophomore season of the series will see a time jump, but Ellie won’t be recast. Additionally, The Last of Us Season 2 won’t cover all of the events from the video-game sequel, so be prepared for a third season, and possibly more. That said, the show’s writer, Craig Mazin, has stated before that The Last of Us won’t overstay its welcome.

Along with Pascal and Ramsey, The Last of Us Season 2 will star Kaitlyn Dever in the prominent role as Abby. Other new cast members include Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Catherine O’Hara in an unspecified role.
