Key Takeaways
- Major UK retailer Argos has cut the price of the PS5 Pro six days after it was released.
- Retailing for £700 in the UK, you can currently get the Pro for £659.99 at Argos.
- Scalpers who bought the Pro in bulk are also selling the console for less since it isn’t in high-demand.
PlayStation released the PS5 Pro six days ago and while we don’t know the exact sales numbers, it feels safe to assume the more powerful version of the PS5 hasn’t been selling quite as well as PlayStation might have hoped. Not only is the console readily available pretty much everywhere, but one major retailer in the UK hasn’t even given it a week before cutting the Pro’s price.
First spotted by VGC, Argos has knocked money off the PS5 Pro. The console’s RRP is £700 in the UK but Argos has already dropped that to £659.99. The listing doesn’t mention anything about it being on sale, nor is there any mention of what the PS5 Pro would usually cost. Good news for those of you on the fence about picking one up but don’t have £660 to spare right this second as that might suggest this is a permanent price drop.

A perk of the Pro you might not have been expecting.
Even though Argos has knocked £40 off the PS5 Pro’s price, the latest model of PlayStation’s newest console is still significantly more expensive than it is in the US. On paper, many will see $700 and £700 prices for the same product and think nothing of it. However, when converting pounds to dollars, it becomes clear that the PS5 Pro is almost $200 more expensive in the UK than it is in the US. Even with the Argos price cut, the console is still significantly more expensive in the UK.
Argos Has Already Reduced The Price Of The PS5 Pro
Six Days Later
Even though the US is where the PS5 Pro is at its cheapest, even without a price cut, it seems sales of it have been pretty slow during week one there too. Scalpers who were expecting a repeat of the chaos that was trying to find the base PS5 in stock in 2020 bought up the Pro during the pre-order period but since it hasn’t sold out, they’re now struggling to sell them. Resale sites already have the PS5 Pro listed for less than $700, and in some cases in the UK, less than the discounted Argos price.
If $700, £660, or whatever scalpers are trying to get is still too much for a new console, but you’re eager to pick up a PS5 ahead of the holidays, maybe hold out for a few more days. PlayStation ran an ad on Tuesday that ended with the reveal that its slimmer PS5 will be going on sale for $379.99. That part of the ad was quickly removed, likely because the discount is being saved for Black Friday weekend.
