Key Takeaways
- Build-A-Bear has revealed the next addition to its Pokemon plush range is Riolu.
- The Riolu bundle has a sound chip built-in and comes with a red and white Premier Ball outfit.
- Other Pokemon plush bundles are currently on sale at Build-A-Bear.
Pokemon has a long-standing relationship with Build-A-Bear which has resulted in some of the former’s creations being transformed into rather unique plushes you won’t find anywhere else. That collection has now grown one bigger as a Riolu bundle was revealed by Build-A-Bear this week, and it’s already available on the plush vendor’s website.
The addition of Riolu to the collection brings Build-A-Bear’s Pokemon tally up to 20 with the likes of Scorbunny, Squirtle, and of course Pikachu already available. Other than the high quality of the plushes at Build-A-Bear, what makes its official Pokemon offerings unique is the voice chips inside and the outfits that they come bundled with.

The only caveat is you’ll need to spend at three different stores if you want all four.
Even though most Pokemon only make one sound, and that sound is its own name, each of Build-A-Bear’s plushes makes five different sounds, Riolu included. I’m assuming those sounds are the Pokemon making its signature sound in different ways. The outfits they come with tend to be the leading reason why Pokemon fans buy plushes from Build-A-Bear, though.
Riolu Joins Pokemon’s Build-A-Bear Range
And It’s Wearing An Adorable Little Hoodie
Although some of the plushes come with two outfits when purchased online, Riolu has just one. In Build-A-Bear’s defense, Riolu’s plush is slightly cheaper than some of the other Pokemon options that come with additional outfits, although some of those plushes are on sale, more on that in a second. Your Riolu can either look the way Pokemon intended, or you can pop it in a red and white hoodie that looks a little like a Premier Ball.
Build-A-Bear Riolu Bundle
Riolu is the 20th Pokemon to be added to Build-A-Bear’s growing plush collection. Just like all of the other Pokemon at Build-A-Bear, Riolu’s plush has a five-in-one sound chip inside it and comes bundled with an outfit which in this case is a red and white Premier Ball hoodie.
The Riolu plush is available now at Build-A-Bear for $57 which, while still pretty pricey for a plush, is quite a bit less than Build-A-Bear’s other Pokemon options tend to be. As noted above, however, some of those plushes are on sale right now. The very popular Dragonite bundle, which is one of the offerings that has two outfits instead of one, is on sale for $57 for a limited time, down from its usual $67. Mimikyu, Munchlax, Bidoof, and more are also on sale.
Other than the new Riolu, the only plush that doesn’t appear to be included in Build-A-Bear’s Pokemon sale is Cubone. Prior to Riolu’s arrival, Cubone was Build-A-Bear’s newest Pokemon plush. Since the poncho-wearing Ground-type was only revealed a little more than a month ago, it’s to be expected that Build-A-Bear wouldn’t want or need to sell it for less yet.
