Monster Hunter Now Has Its Own Line Of Shampoo For Some Reason

Monster Hunter Now Has Its Own Line Of Shampoo For Some Reason

Key Takeaways

  • Capcom has released a Monster Hunter haircare set that includes officially licensed shampoo and conditioner.
  • Unilever has concocted the haircare products, using water mint and royal jelly to replicate the series’ Mega Potions.
  • The products are exclusively available in Japan and much like the Monster Hunter DualSense, the shampoo is unlikely to get a worldwide release.

You’d be forgiven for thinking Monster Hunter Wilds had already been released, or is at least about to be released, based on the amount of publicity the next game in the series has received over the past few weeks. Its launch is actually still almost four months away, yet Capcom has decided right now is the best time to release official Monster Hunter shampoo and conditioner.

In Capcom’s defense, I’ve never heard of haircare products officially affiliated with a video game series before. Perhaps releasing the line now is best for business as the Monster Hunter-branded bottles will be sitting in people’s showers for the next few months, keeping Wilds at the forefront of our minds as we wait for its release since we’ll be looking at, and maybe even using them, every single day. Don’t burn through it too quickly though as it’s unclear if this is a limited edition product or one that’s here to stay.

The title represents Capcom’s continued push to bring the series to mobile devices.

Don’t worry, Capcom hasn’t gone blindly into this and tried to concoct a shampoo without assistance from those with the know-how to do so. The studio has teamed up with Unilever in Japan (thanks, Siliconera) which has given its Clear Men range a Monster Hunter makeover. The combination of water mint and royal jelly Unilever has used to create the haircare products has been designed to replicate the Mega Potions from the Monster Hunter games that are made by combining herbs and honey.

Japanese Monster Hunter Fans Get All The Best Stuff

The good news is the Clear Men Monster Hunter set is available in stores right now. The bad news is all of the stores in which you can buy it are located in Japan, and it seems unlikely that will change anytime soon for several reasons. For starters, the company responsible for the creation is based in Japan. Monster Hunter is also bigger in Japan, hence it getting all of the best, and weirdest, crossover products as we inch closer to Wilds’ release.

The shampoo and conditioner set joins a Monster Hunter bicycle that is included in a Japan-exclusive, $1,300 collector’s edition. PlayStation has also revealed Monster Hunter Wilds will be getting its own DualSense and PS5 cover but again, those products will only be available in Japan. Monster Hunter feels like it’s a lot bigger worldwide now than it has been in the past. Hopefully if Wilds performs well enough it will convince Capcom to make its weirder Monster Hunter merch available outside Japan in the future.
