Slasher fans, get ready for more mysterious notes, ’90s nostalgia, and cheesy fun because the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot has cast some more actors. Deadline reported that Gabbriette, Lola Tung, Austin Nichols, and Nicolas Alexander Chavez have been added to the horror sequel from Sony Pictures.
Thankfully, two important legacy cast members are returning to the upcoming sequel: Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt. The cast will also include Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, and Chase Sui Wonders. Like the recently announced horror sequel Orphan 3, which will no doubt visit the same world as the original film and the prequel, the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot will tread on familiar ground. Although it’s unclear which characters these cast members are playing, horror fans can guess that the new movie will tell the same story as the original. These actors will likely portray young adult characters who are dealing with the fallout of accidentally killing someone.

Prinze Jr. and Love Hewitt are reprising their roles of Ray Bronson and Julie James, a couple who run over a man in their small town on the night of their high school graduation. That moment has ripple effects for them all, and after this devastating and scary night, someone who is aware of their crime stalks them and makes their lives miserable. Fans look forward to seeing what Julie and Ray are up to today. While Julie is a quintessential final girl, Ray is more of a protector. It will be interesting to see what Ray is like in the sequel.
The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot features many well-known actors. Chase Siu Wonders starred in the hilarious horror film Bodies Bodies Bodies. Alexander Chavez recently appeared in the Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Tung stars in the Amazon Prime teen drama The Summer I Turned Pretty. Nicols played a beloved main character on the young adult series One Tree Hill, and Cline played Sarah Cameron on the hit Netflix show Outer Banks. Given the high body count of the previous movies in the franchise, these actors will likely end up playing victims.
Love Hewitt has talked about playing Julie James again in a few interviews, including with Good Housekeeping. She said she thinks Julie:
“has got to go nuts. I don’t know who she’s fighting, but whoever it is is not gonna stand a chance; between me and a stunt double, we got this. That’s all I can say.”
While fans wait for more news about the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, they can come up with theories about who the slasher movie killer could be this time. Slasher fans can check out the sequel when it’s released on July 18th, 2025.
