José Mourinho’s got nothing on you in EA Sports FC’s second season of the Manager Career mode.
As these leagues feature some of the highest-ranked players paired with intimidating squads, there are tips and tricks that can help you succeed. So, let’s dive into a quick guide to understand how to qualify for the Champions weekend leagues.
Champions Play-Offs And Finals Qualification Guide
Before diving into the tactics, it’s essential to understand the number of wins and points required for qualification. To qualify for the Champions Play-Offs, you need to accumulate a total of 1,000 Champions Qualification Points.
You will have a total of five matches to play during the Champions Play-Offs.
Once you’ve successfully made it into the playoffs, your goal is to advance to the next league, the Champions Finals. As you’ll be competing against some of the most skilled players and since everyone has a limited number of matches, it’s recommended to have a squad rated 85+ to achieve a decent result.
Each win in the Champions Play-Offs will earn you four points, while a loss will still grant you one point. To qualify for the Champions Finals, you need to win at least three matches, which is equivalent to a minimum of 12 points.
In the Champions Finals, you will have a total of 15 matches, and each win will earn you one point, with no points awarded for a loss.
How to Build A Squad For Champions
Champions games are typically high-paced, so it’s a smart strategy to have fast players as your wingers. For example, we’ve used Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka as our wingers and their speed and dribbling stats help me effectively bring the ball into the opponent’s half.
You can change each player’s role by opening your squad, pressing L3, and navigating to Team Management.
In addition to having fast wingers, it’s crucial to build a strong midfield, as a good midfield can win you many games. If your main Striker (ST) is set to a False Nine role, try assigning your Attacking Midfielder (CAM) the Shadow Striker role to maximize attacking potential.
If you’re playing a 4-3-3 formation, make sure that both of your midfielders are set to the box-to-box role. This will help you cover the pitch effectively, supporting both attacking and defending.
If you have the option to include quick defenders like Van De Ven, Eder Militao, and Ledley King, you can experiment with a high defensive line. With this setup, your right and left backs can act as wingbacks, staying involved in both defense and attack.
Finally, the most important role to consider is the goalkeeper. The key is to set your goalkeeper’s player role as a Sweeper Keeper. Since your defensive line is positioned high up the pitch, this allows the keeper to charge out and clear the ball if the opponent’s striker manages to break through your defenders.
You can edit your Defensive Approach by pressing L3 and then navigating to Team Management.
It might take some time to get used to a new squad and formation, but once you master it, it becomes very challenging for opponents to break through. Here are all the players we used for the Champions, and you can try out a similar team and tactics to see how they work for you.
