Every character in Dragon Quest 3 Remake begins the game by taking a personality quiz to determine their personality type. While many new players may think this process is innocuous, the truth is that it is an extremely important part of maximizing your character’s potential. There is a huge variety of personality types in DQIII Remake, but here we are going to focus on one of the most popular: Vamp. The Vamp personality is one of the best personality types in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. It focuses on Agility and Luck, two extremely important attributes. It is important to note that only players that choose Appearance B, the female Heroine, are allowed to use Vamp. The male equivalent, Lothario, is nowhere near as good.
How to Start with the Vamp Personality in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
To start with the Vamp personality in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you’ll have to reach “The Queen’s Treachery” final personality test. While we are still exploring every path to achieve this, we can confirm that most past methods will still work.
It is important to note that while the exact wording of many of the personality quiz questions has changed, the inherent meaning mostly remains the same. If you had a method from the past versions of
Dragon Quest 3
that worked, it seems to still work here. We are currently working on a chart that will show the updated form of every question, and every path to the Queen’s Treachery final test. We will add the chart here once complete. For now, we will show you the path we took to acquiring Vamp every time.
Vamp Personality Quiz Answers:
The personality quiz at the beginning of Dragon Quest 3 Remake is incredibly complex, but most of the paths that led to each final test scenario still hold, though they don’t always occur in the exact same order.
The quiz begins with one of several possible questions. Once you answer the first question, a complex system of paths opens up. Here is the path we took to get the Vamp personality:
- Question 1: Do you find life to be dull and uninteresting? Answer 1: No
- Question 2: Upon seeing a troubled soul, is it your first urge to go to their aid? Answer 2: No
- Question 3: Do you prefer the mountains to the sea? Answer 3: No
- Question 4: If you find yourself with nothing to do, does the lack of activity drive you to distraction? Answer 4: No
- Question 5: Do you dream often? Answer 5: Yes
- Question 6: Do you ever dream of being pursued? Answer 6: No
- Question 7: Do you enjoy physical pursuits? Answer 7: Yes
- Question 8: Can even the most minor of matters irritate you? Answer 8: Yes
- Question 9: When inspiration strikes, are you likely to spring into action straight away? Answer 9: No
- Question 10: Once you begin a task, do you find that all else around you pales into insignificance? Answer 10: No
- Question 11: Is there something in your life you would protect at the expense of all else? Answer 11: Yes
These eleven questions are guaranteed to get you to The Queen’s Treachery. While there are several other paths, this is the guaranteed method we can currently offer. As we begin to discover more, we will add them. If you do not get Question 1 on your first attempt, simply start again until you do.
How to Solve the Queen’s Treachery:
While there are several solutions, each of which earn you a different personality, there is only one that gets you Vamp. Once you gain control, follow these steps:
- Go through the door and speak to the queen.
- Head into the next room and speak to the King. Tell him No when he asks if you have anything to say to him.
- Speak to the King’s Chancellor on the right of the carpeted path. He will ask you two questions. Make sure to confirm both times that you should always follow the king’s orders. Here are the questions:
- Question 1: “They are still the King’s orders, and must be obeyed, Correct?” Answer: Yes
- Question 2: “Really? You truly believe the orders of a King to be set in stone?” Answer: Yes
This will unlock the Vamp personality for all female protagonists in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.

How to Switch to the Vamp Personality in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
There are two basic methods for changing personality types in Dragon Quest 3 Remake. If you start DQIII Remake with a different personality type, and you wish to switch to Vamp, there are two methods for doing so:
- Garter – Temporary: The Garter accessory allows you to temporarily switch to the Vamp personality when equipped to any female character’s main accessory slot.
- Guns n’ Buns Book – Permanent: Reading this book will permanently switch any female character’s personality type to Vamp.
How to Get the Garter Accessory in Dragon Quest 3 Remake:
Currently, the best method of acquiring the Garter accessory is by returning 5 Mini-Medals to Manny in Mini-Medal Manor at the bottom of the Aliahan well. Doing so will automatically earn you rhe Garter.
There are likely more Garters found in the world of Dragon Quest 3 Remake. As we find them, we will add them here. In the original, there was a Garter found on the Ghost Ship that roams the sea, but we cannot yet confirm it returns in the remake.
How to Get Guns n’ Buns in Dragon Quest 3 Remake:
Currently, the only known method of acquiring the Guns n’ Buns book is by defeating Xenion, a post-game boss. He is located in Cloudsgate Citadel, on the top floor. We will add more information about defeating Xenion as it becomes available. If there are any new methods for acquiring Guns n Buns in the Dragon Quest 3 Remake, we will also include them here.
