Helldivers 2 Has A Funny Jurassic Park Reference

Helldivers 2 has never been afraid of making subtle references to popular IPs. Apart from the fact that the game is heavily based on Starship Troopers, you can see similarities in certain armour sets based on Star Wars, a planet named after popular Hollywood actor Vernon Wells, and making John Helldiver canon using the A-Team intro.

Let’s be realistic here.

Arrowhead has never been shy about these references. In fact, COO Johan Pilestedt has said that he’d love to do crossovers with IPs like Aliens, Starship Troopers, Terminator and Warhammer 40K among others. Until then, though, Helldivers 2 will have to stick to making subtle references, like this latest one on Jurassic Park.

Bugs Find A Way!

While we learnt about Tyranny Park’s existence a while ago, it seems there has been an unfortunate but unsurprising development. A recent Emergency Update in the game revealed that “The Terminid Research Center has suffered a catastrophic security breach. A massive subterranean hive erupted underneath Tyranny Park, massacring visitors and staff. The cause is under investigation, but previous unresolved incursions into the planetary perimeter may have been a factor.”

It’s unclear how the staff and Tyranny Park let this happen. Intel suggests it was an Automaton spy disguised as an engineer that paralysed the security system in order to smuggle out confidential intel. However, according to the Ministry of Truth, the bot was found torn to shreds by the Terminids that escaped.

Who knew that bugs, who come out from holes in the ground, could dig? Perhaps if they spared no expense, Tyranny Park would not have gone through the horrific events that unfolded. Of course, the bugs have now spread and are threatening the Xenoentomology Center on Turing. The Helldivers must divert forces that are focussing on getting the DSS operational and defend Turing instead.

Coming back to the DSS, Helldivers 2 players have been toiling for weeks to get the space station up and running, even relocating “disenfranchised families” fleeing from conflict to staff it. However, it seems players are getting tired of the storyline, as the developers keep adding Major Orders instead of taking it online and showing us what it actually does.
