Nintendo has supported the Switch for over seven years with a regular stream of brand-new game releases, remakes and remasters of older titles, and more.

With the Switch over seven years old at this point, Nintendo gamers are understandably anxious about the future. Nintendo still has not revealed the Switch 2 console just yet, but the reveal should happen within the next few months. But regardless of when Nintendo decides to unveil its next console, one month in 2025 is already standing out as a particularly exciting one for fans.

A reliable leaker has already said that Nintendo is hosting a Direct in February, but even if they never said anything, fans could already assume that it would be taking place. Nintendo has traditionally hosted Nintendo Direct events in February, giving fans a look at upcoming games releasing in the spring and beyond. Next February’s likely Nintendo Direct is especially interesting, though, as Nintendo has promised to reveal the Switch 2 console at some point between now and April 2025.


Before fans get too excited about the February 2025 Nintendo Direct showcasing Switch 2 games, it should be stressed that the same insider that teased the Direct’s existence, PH Brazil, said that it will most likely focus on Switch games. This event provides update on live service Pokemon games as well as reveals new information about upcoming DLC and new games in the long-running series. It’s possible that the massive Game Freak leak will delay plans for future Pokemon reveals and could throw a wrench in the 2025 Pokemon Day, but that seems unlikely.


As for what fans can expect from the likely February 2025 Pokemon Presents, the event will almost assuredly be used to highlight Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Pokemon Legends: Z-A was announced earlier this year as a follow-up to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. In development for the Nintendo Switch and aiming for release in 2025, very little has been announced about Pokemon Legends: Z-A to date. We know that the game will be set in Lumiose City and will see the return of Mega Evolutions, but otherwise, fans don’t really know what to expect.
