Server security was tightened, and the developer fixed a number of issues with in-game voice chat. To mark the occasion, Tripwire has since dropped the price of Rising Storm 2 by 95%, and the FPS game is surging on Steam as a result.
On Sunday November 10, Rising Storm 2’s concurrent player count peaked at just over 500. In the last 24 hours, it’s hit 2,078, the highest it’s been since April 2021. What makes it so good? Even though there are 32 players per side, Rising Storm 2 is still an asymmetrical multiplayer game.
Depending on which faction or force you’re playing as, you have access to different weapons, vehicles, and abilities. It might not always be ‘fair,’ in the strict, ludic sense, but it pushes you to be creative, and adapt your style in every match. Compared to the smoothed-out shooters that have gotten big in the last few years, Rising Storm 2 feels like it prioritizes raw action over balance.
