Former Battlefield: Bad Company lead designer David Goldfarb offers his opinion on whether EA is interested in a third game in the franchise and offers his services to help make it happen. While EA and DICE’s Battlefield franchise is beloved by fans, there’s no denying that the series has struggled at times with more recent entries.
In fact, the previous couple of games struggled mightily at launch due to various technical and server issues, headlined by Battlefield 2042 having significant release problems. While these games have managed to recover and get back to a good state, it hasn’t stopped many in the community from hoping for a return to the Bad Company series, fan favorite titles made by DICE with a unique identity that focused on marrying humor with war-style action. Both games managed to hit a chord with fans.

Unfortunately, the release of Bad Company 2 in 2010 is the last time fans have seen the series, with EA seemingly unwilling to return to it. Former senior and lead designer David Goldfarb, now working with The Outsiders and games like Metal: Hellsinger, recently indicated in an interview that he’d love to work on another Battlefield: Bad Company, while also expressing that he’s very happy at his current location as well. Goldfarb went on to say, “I am right here. They [EA] know where I am if they want to do one.”
Chances for a Battlefield: Bad Company 3 Seem Slim
When talking about a potential third game in the Bad Company franchise, Goldfarb doesn’t seem so sure. While he originally had started writing the game’s narrative, he doesn’t believe a game like Bad Company would ultimately get approved at that level of production quality anymore. Ultimately, Goldfarb believes that companies would rather play it safe and avoid risk, ultimately believing that Bad Company 2 was one of those games that was the perfect storm, something that management would rather chalk up to being an anomaly than a blueprint.
As Goldfarb points out, the Bad Company franchise was special for a lot of members of the team due to it not taking itself too seriously, prioritizing fun with a campaign that played like a buddy action movie and multiplayer that leaned hard into the Rush game mode. It’s clear that EA understands the popularity of these games, at one point, seemingly making Bad Company Remasters, and adding content from these games into Battlefield 2042‘s portal mode, though for now, it appears to be all silent with regard to a new game.
