The Attack on Titan Ups and Downs
From a Huge Hit to a “Disappointing Ending”
Attack on Titan was serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from 2009 to 2021 and concluded in 34 volumes. Kodansha USA published it in English. The series inspired manga spin-offs, live-action adaptations, games, and a popular anime adaptation.
The anime was produced by WIT Studio from Seasons 1– 3. MAPPA took over for the fourth and final season, which aired in two parts with two specials. MAPPA later announced a compilation film covering the series finale with some new content. Titled, Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, the film is currently available in Japanese theaters.
