Now that a Scary Movie reboot is in the works, horror fans are excited to see how the next installment will talk about tropes, common characters, and typical plotlines. Two stars from the franchise have said they would be happy to return to the franchise.
In July 2024, Anna Faris said she would come back to Scary Movie if Regina Hall did. She also mentioned “money” being a factor. Faris told People:
“I would love to work with Regina again. I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”

This Netflix Horror Movie Was Better Than I Expected
There is a new Netflix horror movie that addresses time travel, tells a slasher story, and pleasantly surprised me.
In an interview with TV Insider, Regina Hall said she would love to play Brenda Meeks again. She praised her co-star Faris and then said:
“We’ll see if Brenda is in this new world. I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again. That would be fun.”
Faris and Hall played best friends Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks. Cindy is a mash-ups of two slasher movie final girls Julie James and Sidney Prescott, and Meeks is based on Scream 2 character Maureen Evans along with Karla Wilson in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. It would be a shame to see a Scary Movie reboot without both Faris and Hall. Fans are definitely hopeful that they can reprise their roles.
Five Scary Movie films were released between 2000 and 2013. While Faris and Hall appeared in Scary Movie, Scary Movie 2, Scary Movie 3, and Scary Movie 4, they didn’t appear in Scary Movie 5, which was released in 2013. The fifth movie featured Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen, Heather Locklear, Simon Rex, and Ashley Tisdale.
While there are many zombie comedy movies and meta slashers that poke fun at themselves, the Scary Movie franchise stands out. The movies have their own sense of humor and their own vibe. It addresses horror tropes like final girls, slasher villains, and the sometimes silly decisions that main and minor characters make while trying to get away from a killer. Although there are no cast details at this time, it would be great to see the franchise’s original actors like Faris and Hall come back. Fans feel the same way about the Scary Movie reboot cast as they do about the cast of the upcoming sequel Scream 7. It would be fun to see new actors joining Scary Movie and poking fun at established and classic horror movie characters. But at the same time, audiences want to see the actors they know and love.
The films were also box office successes. According to Box Office Mojo, Scary Movie grossed $278,019,771 worldwide. The fifth movie made less money, however, and grossed $78,378,744 worldwide.
The actors have discussed their Scary Movie roles in numerous interviews. In 2022, Hall told E! News, “I love Brenda so much, still do.” In 2020, which was the 20th anniversary of the original movie’s release, Faris told Variety that everyone knew they were working on a hilarious movie and “it was time for a spoof movie that pushed boundaries.”
