While Lego’s popularity seems to be eternal, sets don’t last forever. The company routinely sunsets kits and even entire product lines to make room for new releases, and a new round of sets looks to be leaving soon. Several kits from popular collections like Super Mario, Marvel, Sonic The Hedgehog, Star Wars, and Minecraft are all listed as “Retiring Soon” on Lego’s online store. There are some surprising releases ending soon, including Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder model, the Avengers Endgame Final Battle display, and Princess Peach’s Castle playset, just to name a few.
So, what happens when a Lego set is retired? Essentially, it means Lego won’t be making any more of those specific kits, and they won’t be sold directly from Lego anymore–but retired Lego sets don’t necessarily disappear immediately. Some will remain available from third-party sellers but may be much harder to find and at higher prices than they initially launched, so it’s worth picking up soon-to-be-discontinued Lego figures and playsets while they’re still available.
To help, we’ve combed through the online listing and rounded up a list of the coolest Lego sets retiring soon. Note that we don’t know when these sets will officially be retired, and it’s possible they could sell out soon. Luckily, many are available at multiple online retailers, so we’ve included links to buy at Amazon, Target, and the Lego Store, where available. That way, if one link sells out, there’s a chance you could find it at one of the others. In some cases, kits may be available at a lower price at certain retailers, so we’ve also noted the prices at each online store.
