Stellar Blade arrived exclusively on PlayStation 5 near the beginning of this year, but a PC port is now becoming less theoretical. Shift Up, the South Korea studio behind the sci-fi action game, recently told investors that it’s aiming to bring the game to PC sometime in 2025.

The news came in response to an investor question following Shift Up’s latest financial earnings report. The studio identified Valve’s Steam storefront as an important piece of the AAA game market and pointed to the recent success of Black Myth: Wukong, which blew up on the platform as Chinese players and others turned it into the biggest single-player launch in Steam’s history.

Shift Up even suggested that the financial performance of Stellar Blade, which by June had sold over 1 million copies on PS5 alone, might ultimately end up being better on PC than it was on console.

While a PC port of Stellar Blade will bring it to millions of new players and also make the Soulslike a breeding ground for all sorts of fascinating mods, Shift Up is also continuing to invest in the current console version. Announced earlier this year, a crossover DLC with Nier: Automata arrives on November 20 alongside other additional outfits for the main character Eve.

The game will also get a full-fledged photo mode at that point, which I’m sure will also yield some fascinating results. The free update will no doubt contain other new features as well, including new settings options and tweaks to combat.

While Stellar Blade might not be a clear GOTY contender for many, it’s a really slick action game with some beautiful visuals and neat, old-school charm. It’s a promising debut project for Shift Up that punches way above its weight. In addition to the PC port next year, a sequel is already being considered as well.
