Key Takeaways
- Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has confirmed a PC version is in the works, and will launch at some point in 2025.
- Shift Up also claimed that they believe Stellar Blade will perform “even better” than the PS5 version, pointing to the release of Black Myth: Wukong as proof.
Stellar Blade has arguably been one of PlayStation’s best games this year, despite not actually owning developer Shift Up. Stellar Blade, alongside Black Myth: Wukong, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Helldivers 2, has helped the platform along while first-party releases have been scarce, but Stellar Blade is in the unique position in that it didn’t launch on PC, having been locked down as a PS5 exclusive.
Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has explained in the past that it was “considering” a PC port for the game at some point in the future, but it has now revealed that the title is set to break free from its PS5 chains at some point next year. This was confirmed in the Q&A portion of Shift Up’s latest earnings report (thanks Gematsu), as the company claimed that it is currently aiming to release the PC version of Stellar Blade in 2025.
Shift Up Thinks Stellar Blade Will Perform Better On PC Than PS5
Interestingly, Shift Up also made some comments regarding how well they think Stellar Blade will actually perform on the platform, and it’s fair to say the developer has high hopes. During the Q&A, Shift Up explained that it believes Stellar Blade will perform better on PC than PS5, pointing to the success of Black Myth: Wukong and Steam’s “growing presence in the AAA games market.

It’s not an unlikely outcome either, if we’re being honest. Helldivers 2 absolutely exploded on Steam when it released earlier this year, smashing even developer Arrowhead’s expectations, while Black Myth: Wukong somehow managed to sell millions of copies in a single day. Of course, Stellar Blade has the disadvantage of already being available on another system, but we can still likely expect it to perform well.
You’ll also likely have some fans of the game double-dipping too, as PCs will undoubtedly provide better performance, with mods to boot. While we don’t have a specific release date just yet, it’s something to look forward to, and the game’s upcoming crossover with Nier Automata will waste some time as well. That collaboration, along with the game’s fancy photo mode, will be dropping next week, in what is turning out to be a pretty cool month for Stellar Blade fans.
Stellar Blade is an action-driven game from Shift Up, originally revealed as Project Eve. It follows the aforementioned Eve as she battles the alien Naytiba invaders, in a bid to reclaim the Earth for humanity.
