Stalker 2 anomalies explained

What are the Stalker 2 anomalies? While you’re on your travels in The Zone, there are plenty of things that might want to relieve you of your head; monstrosities and other humans may seem initially like the most direct threat, and in some cases, you’d be right, but there is another, often unseen danger, anomalies.

The Stalker 2 release date is right around the corner, and after several delays and what feels like a lifetime of waiting, we’re finally gearing up to take on The Zone once more. Taking a host of Stalker 2 weapons on your journey is a start, and though they’ll protect you against some threats, what do you do when you come face to face with a Stalker 2 anomaly?

What are Stalker 2 anomalies?

Stalker 2 anomalies are small pockets of space inside The Zone that produce a different – often lethal – effect if entered by a person or creature. Depending on the type of anomaly, these effects vary, but can be anything from a small area of anti-gravity to an effect that causes the subject to spin so fast they burst.

As you can see, avoiding anomalies is vital, so detecting and often dispelling these phenomena is key to surviving The Zone. Occasionally, you’re able to see a faint shimmer, giving away the location of an anomaly, but this isn’t always the case. Each Stalker is equipped with a detector – part Geiger counter, part anomaly early warning system – which beeps whenever an anomaly is near.

Once you have located an anomaly, it’s in your best interest to avoid it completely, but if you’re forced to pass, you can throw a bolt into the space and hope it triggers whatever death trap is waiting. There is also a scenario where you can use anomalies to your advantage – luring an unwitting enemy into an acid trap spells almost certain doom for them, and saves you ammunition.

We don’t yet have a full list of Stalker 2 anomalies, but rest assured we’ll be adding them here once we’ve had the unfortunate experience of seeing them in-game.
