Life is Strange: Double Exposure throws Max into some crazy interdimensional hijinks, but among it all, she can make some romantic connections with people that make everything a little bit more okay. The two people who she can romance are Vinh and Amanda, and they have really different personalities, which makes for some interesting storytelling in Max’s journey.
But, for the player, the real question is how does romancing one or the other change the story? You have plenty of opportunities to flirt with both of them throughout the story, and then in Episode 3, you can make the choice that solidifies who Max will enter a relationship with. So, here’s how you can romance each of them (or both because that’s also a secret option) and how it affects the story.

33 Story-Heavy Games To Play If You Love Life Is Strange
If you loved the incredible storytelling elements of Life is Strange, then you’re likely to be into these games with similarly compelling narratives.
What Happens if You Romance Vinh?
Vinh is the leader of the Abraxas Society and Yasmin Fayyad’s secretary. He can be a little stand-offish when you first meet him, but as you get to know him more, he has an endearing dramatic flare and quite a bit hidden below the surface, which makes him a compelling character for romance.
In Chapter 3, you need to head to the Dead World in the Snapping Turtle if you want to romance Vinh. Talk to him, and he’ll play a game of Smash or Pass with you. He asks you about members of the faculty, and you can be as honest as you want – because at the end, he’ll ask where he falls on your radar. You’ll then be able to either kiss him or pass, and this choice is what decides whether you start a relationship with him.
If you kiss him, he’ll immediately become smitten with Max and ask her if she can stay. In terms of the story, it will shift slightly, mainly in terms of Reggie and his feelings about Vinh, but the changes aren’t massive. At the very end of the game, Vinh will mention that he’s very confused about everything that’s going on, but he won’t bring up the kiss.
You’ll be able to get special Snapshots which only become available in Chapter 5 when you do romance Vinh, and you’ll get the “Only Eyes for the Bad Boy” achievement.
If you decide to Pass on Vinh, he’ll see that there aren’t any hard feelings. Later, you’ll also be able to encourage him to help Reggie, and you’ll see them together in the Snapping Turtle toward the end.
What Happens if You Romance Amanda?
Amanda is the first of the two romance options you meet in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and she’s the owner of the Snapping Turtle. She’s a little more approachable than Vinh is initially, and overall, she’s got a very sweet and caring demeanor.
You can romance Amanda in Chapter 3 as well, but you need to speak with her in the Snapping Turtle in the Living World to do so. When you do, she and Max will attend an imaginary Revenge Horse concert. Afterward, you’ll sit on the couches in the bar and things will get a little more flirty. This is where you’ll have the opportunity to kiss her or pull away from her.
If you decide to kiss her, she’ll mention that she wants to wait before she and Max do anything else. She’s worried about getting attached to people too quickly, as her therapist has pointed out, and she just wants to make sure she makes good choices. Later in the story, she will also feel hurt that Max kept her powers a secret, and like Vinh, she’s confused by everything that happened. She’ll ask Max to give her some time to think about whether she can deal with everything.
Romancing Amanda means you’ll be able to get a Snapshot of Reggie and Vinh together in Chapter 5, and you’ll get the “A Nice Girl Who Runs a Bar” achievement.
If you decide to pass on Amanda, Max will mention that her life is too messy, and it would be unfair to pull Amanda into that. She agrees, and later in the game, she will say she feels she dodged a bullet by not being with you after everything that happened.
What Happens if You Romance Amanda and Vinh?
If you decide to romance both Amanda and Vinh, Amanda will catch you in the act and be pretty unhappy with what you’ve done. In the end, the story will remain the same: Max ends up single. However, you will be able to get the “It’s Complicated” achievement.
You can also decide to romance neither of them, in which case you’ll get the “Romantically Disentangled” achievement. If you want to make a different choice, you can also head to the menu and replay the chapter from the chapter select menu.
As for who you should romance in Life is Strange: Double Exposure, the choice is entirely up to you. The story ends very similarly in terms of Max’s romantic status, and it all just ends up being about if you’d like to get a certain achievement, or simply as who you like more in the story.
