Davrin’s The Profane and the Lost quest will finally take Rook and his Grey Warden ally to the depths of Thedas in search of the missing Griffons. Here’s a rundown on the possible outcomes that Rook’s choices will lead to during this quest and how the decision can alter the ending and Davrin’s abilities.
The following guide contains spoilers for Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s ending.
What Happens If Griffons Become The Sentinels Of Nature?
When finishing The Profane and The Lost, players will be given the choice to make the Griffons stay in Arlathan Forest as Sentinels of Nature. If players choose this outcome, Davrin will get the Battlemaster Veilguard Skill, which makes Assan abilities deal 25% more damage and grants Precision to Rook, along with the Wildwood Benefactor Legendary Armor. The armor grants the following passives:
- Detonating Staggered enemies deals Stagger to all enemies.
- Stagger from Detonating is increased by 10% for each enemy hit.
These passives are great for Rook builds that focus on Takedowns, especially for those that cause Electric Damage and the Shocking affliction, since these also cause Stagger and synrgize well with Davrin and Assan’s new skills.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard – How To Revive
Combat isn’t always easy in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, so having some revive charges on hand could be the difference between victory and defeat.
On the other hand, by choosing this outcome, at the end of the Story, the Griffons will repopulate Arlathan and become Wardens of the Forest, aiding the Veil Jumpers to restore the destroyed Balance that has been caused by the Gods’ Rampage.
This also has other implications for achieving the True Ending of the game. While picking this option does not alter the outcome of the final battle, it is less probable that all members of The Veilguard will survive the siege of Minrathous, thus, leading to one of the Bad Endings of the game.
What Happens If Griffons Return To The Grey Wardens?
If players choose for the Griffons to be returned to the Grey Wardens, this will trigger a series of changes in the outcome of the game. First, Davrin will get the Defender Veilguard Skill, which makes Assan abilities have a 25% shorter cooldown duration, and grant Deflect to Rook when used, along with the Grey Benefactor Legendary Armor, which has the following passives:
- Detonation damage now causes Fire damage instead.
- Detonations cause +25% more Fire damage for each stack of Burning on the target.
This choice helps party members who deal Fire Damage. Taash and Rook would benefit greatly, especially if Rook is a Spellblade Mage, since it relies heavily on the Burning Affliction to scale damage with Arcane Bomb.
Choosing the Griffons to be taken care of by the Wardens will contribute to the final battle, ensuring that the Grey Wardens are at their full power when the Siege of Minrathous begins. After the battle, they will repopulate Thedas with a breed thought for combat, cleansing the world of the Remaining Blight. This outcome will also unlock the path to the Good Ending, with Wardens Evka and Antoine being able to retire and live happily ever after.
