In Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, every Pokemon TCG fan’s favorite elements of collecting and battling have been simplified and altered to create a fun mobile game variant. Players can open digital booster packs to build up a collection, hunt for rare cards, and build a deck to use in AI matches or battles against other players.
While players do receive the majority of the cards in their collections from opening booster packs, there are a couple of additional ways that they can pick up a few extra cards here and there, too. One of the easiest and most frequent ways to obtain extra cards is through the Wonder Pick mechanic. How the Wonder Pick System Works in Pokemon TCG Pocket
In Pokemon TCG Pocket, Wonder Pick is a bonus feature of the game that enables you to collect a few extra cards for your collection without needing to open booster packs. Much like booster packs, which can be opened/replenished with Pack Hourglasses, Wonder Pick has its own currency that is consumed to complete a successful ‘pick’, called Wonder Stamina. Wonder Stamina is organically received every day and can be replenished by spending Poke Gold or another currency called Wonder Hourglasses.
To begin a Wonder Pick, simply head to the main menu page of the game, and hit the giant Wonder Pick button, located next to the Shop button at the bottom of the screen. This Wonder Pick button will also showcase how much Wonder Stamina you currently have available to spend.
This will take you to a page where you can choose from different Wonder Picks. Wonder Picks feature a handful of different cards that have recently been pulled by your Pokemon TCG Pocket friends, as well as other random players in the game.
Depending on which cards are available in each Wonder Pick, a different amount of Stamina will be consumed. Wonder Picks featuring generally more common cards can be done for 1 Stamina, Picks featuring basic rares may cost around 2 Stamina, and Picks featuring valuable full arts or ex will cost at least 3 Stamina to consume. Depending on which events are currently ongoing in the game, there may also be additional free Wonder Picks with special themed cards, too.
When selecting a Wonder Pick, all of the five cards will be randomly shuffled and rearranged face down. From here, players simply tap on a card to select it, which will flip it and reveal a prize for you to keep.
While this isn’t a reliable method for targeting specific cards or farming, completing Wonder Pick every day can be very helpful in building up your collection, increasing duplicates to become eligible for purchasing Flairs, and filling gaps in your deck. Additionally, if you can stumble across a Wonder Pick with a card you do happen to be seeking, you will have a one-in-five chance of securing it, so it’s at least worth a try.
