What Is Planet Coaster 2’s Franchise Mode?

Planet Coaster 2 Franchise Creation Screen Overview Code

In Planet Coaster 2, Franchise Mode is a new game mode that essentially lets you build parks in several locations around the world, all tied together, that can be shared with your friends.

You can start a single player Franchise and establish a variety of parks in all of the available locations, but the Planet Coaster 2 Franchise system is meant to be a multiplayer experience. In Franchise Mode, you can build a global Theme Park empire with your friends, freely visit their parks in real-time, try to get your park on the global Challenge leaderboard, and try to become successful in locations with special effects.

For example, one location you can build a park on the global park network might increase the amount Guests spend on Food, but reduce the amount they spend on Attractions. Another might give you an abundance of starting cash but comes with the drawback of stingy Guests, or reduce the number of Guests that will come to your park but increase your Research Points.

There’s quite a lot going on with Franchise Mode, and though you can check out other players’ parks and try the Challenges on your own, it’s a lot more fun with friends (or an online Planet Coaster 2 community-run Franchise, such as a Reddit or Steam User group).

How To Start A Franchise In Planet Coaster 2

To start a Franchise, Planet Coaster 2 players must click the “Franchise” option from the main menu, which should be the bottom-left square of the four main menu options. On the next screen, click “New Franchise” to go tot he Create New Franchise menu.

Enter your Franchise name and add some Tags. Though you don’t have to enter any tags, it’s not a bad idea to at least put your Language and Preferred Platforms tags on the Franchise if you plan to bring it online. You can change Membership options here between Invite Only or Invite Or Request – if it’s in Invite Only mode, you will have to manually send the Franchise Code to other players you want to join.

The Franchise Code can be found just below your Membership options on this screen, and can be re-randomized if you don’t like the randomly generated code.

After confirming your Planet Coaster 2 Franchise name and settings, you must choose your first Franchise location. Each location comes with special modifiers, and different starting Cash and Research Points totals, so read through all of your possible locations to find one that’s relatively balanced. Any location with “average starting resources and regular guest behavior” tends to be good for establishing the first branch of your theme park empire.

When playing a multiplayer Franchise, Planet Coaster 2 member players have a few special options for their parks. If you create a park and don’t want anyone to make changes, you can Lock Editing. This is only available to the park creator under the Manage Park settings. Under normal circumstances, other players can make changes to any park in the franchise, but if Editing is Locked, other players in the Franchise can only View the park without making any changes.
