Sk8 the Infinity Season 2: What We Know So Far
Now that Sk8 the Infinity Season 2 is confirmed to be on the way, here’s a close look at what’s been revealed about it so far.
The new trailer, posted on Aniplex’s YouTube Channel, briefly shows the characters and what’s coming, but does not leave much place for speculation:
SK8 the Infinity EXTRA PART OVA Main Information
Each short story will focus on different characters: the first one centers on Reki, Langa and Miya, the second follows Shadow, the third focuses on Joe and Cherry and the last one is centered on Adam and Snake. The OVA is produced by Studio Bones with a returning cast from season one, which includes creator Hiroko Utsumi (also creator of Bucchigiri?!) and series composer Ichirō Ōkōchi (creator of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion).
The main Japanese cast is also reprising their roles. Tasuku Hatanaka is back as Reki Kyan, Chiaki Kobayashi returns as Langa Hasegawa, and Takehito Koyasu is playing Adam again. Takuma Nagatsuka, Kenta Miyake Hikaru Midorikawa, Yasunori Matsumoto, Yasunori Matsumoto and Kenshō Ono also return as, respectively, Miya, Shadow, Cherry, Joe and Snake.
What is SK8 the Inifinity About
SK8 the Infinity was broadcast in 2021, and the first season ran for 12 episodes. It is an original animation by Studio Bones and creator Hiroko Utsumi. Her previous involvement in both Banana Fish and Free! Eternal Summer as series director and the premise of the story itself attracted the fujoshi fanbase and the anime was indeed a hit in this niche (but not restricted to it).
The story follows skateboarder Reki, a teenager who accidentally ends up in a dangerous skateboarding race known as “S”, alongside snowboarder Langa, who had never skated. Together, they challenge strong rivals and even artificial intelligence in their new skateboarding “rally” journey.
Aniplex of America licensed the series in the US and Funimation (today Crunchyroll) streamed it simultaneously to the Japanese release. Funimation also provided a SimulDub to the series.
SK8 the Infinity is available on Crunchyroll, both subbed and dubbed.
