Miles Morales MCU Debut Gets Update From Kevin Feige

Key Takeaways

  • Fans must wait for live-action Miles Morales in the MCU until the Spider-Verse trilogy is complete.
  • Sony’s Spider-Verse movies have potential crossovers with the MCU, exciting fans.
  • Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse delay suggests a live-action Miles Morales could join the MCU after 2027.

Spider-Man fans want to know when Miles Morales will join Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in the MCU. At D23 Brazil, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige indicated that the MCU has to wait its turn before Miles Morales can make his live-action debut.

Miles Morales was introduced to Spider-Man fans in 2011 and has become one of Marvel’s most popular new characters. The character was the main hero of Sony’s acclaimed animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse. A third film, titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is on the way, but there are still fans who want to see a live-action Miles Morales, particularly if he joins the MCU.

The Kraven the Hunter Runtime may have been revealed, and it continues a tradition for the Sony Spider-Man Universe movie franchise.

During an interview with Omelete at D23 Brazil, Feige said he wants to see a live-action Miles Morales join the MCU. However, his comment suggests that they won’t be able to use the character until the Spider-Verse trilogy is complete. “Miles will appear in the third ‘Spider-Verse’ movie, which is in production. I hope that, shortly after that, he can enter the MCU in live-action,” Feige said.

Miles Morales Marvel Comics

If Marvel Studios can’t introduce a live-action Miles Morales to the MCU until after the Spider-Verse trilogy ends, fans could wait at least three years. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was initially scheduled to close out the trilogy when it was released in 2024, one year after the second film, Across the Spider-Verse, premiered. However, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider was delayed when Sony pulled it from its schedule due to the 2023 actors’ strike, which prevented the cast from recording. At the time of this writing, Sony has not announced a new Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Vere release date, and the film is not expected to be released before 2027.

Despite some people feeling that Sony’s live-action Spider-Verse movies hurt Marvel Studios by being mistakenly associated with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films, some fans want to see a crossover between both franchises. While Holland’s Spider-Man movies are separate from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, Marvel Studios’ Multiverse Saga gives characters from each universe the chance to crossover. Sony’s Morbius even included post-credits scenes in which Micheal Keaton’s Vulture from Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Homecoming is transported from the MCU to the Sony Universe due to Doctor Strange’s botched spell from Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Although Sony’s Spider-Verse movies are animated, some fans hoped to see characters similarly crossover into the MCU, perhaps in a Who Framed Roger Rabbit-style crossover that combines animation with real life. This isn’t entirely out of the question, as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse featured a cameo by Donald Glover as a live-action Prowler, Miles Morales’ uncle. Avengers: Secret Wars could have been the perfect opportunity to feature a crossover between the MCU and Sony’s Spider-Verse, as the comics on which the film is based center on Marvel characters from different universes colliding. However, Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to be released in 2027, the earliest year Beyond the Spider-Verse is expected to premiere. So, it will likely be a while before Miles Morales (a new live-action version or the one from the Spider-Verse movies) joins the MCU.

Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 24, 2026.
