For too long now, there has been this notion in society that having a disability stops people from reaching their potential. However, Kayla’s story is proof that a diagnosis of a disability does not need to be met with fear. When Kayla’s parents found out she had down syndrome, they didn’t approach it negatively, and in fact, they used it as a motivating factor. Studies have actually shown that families with down syndrome children are much happier and lead more fulfilled lives.
