League of Legends fighting game 2XKO is coming back for another playtest soon

League of Legends is ending the year on a high note thanks to Worlds 2024 and the start of Arcane Season 2. We’ve got a lot to look forward to as well, with Riot’s upcoming LoL MMO progressing smoothly and 2XKO, the official League of Legends 2v2 tag-team fighter, on the horizon. We’re not waiting long to get our hands on the next 2XKO playtest, either, as Riot Games finally teases us with when the fighting game will next be available, alongside another look at Jinx.

Formerly called Project L, the 2XKO release date isn’t far off now. Initially teased all the way back in 2019, it’s been a long road, but we’re finally almost there. If you missed the last alpha labs playtest don’t worry, because Riot Games has just announced you’ll get another chance to try the fighting game ahead of launch.

In a 2XKO November 2024 check-in, game director Shaun Rivera outlines when we can play next, but not before they detail everything Riot learned from the last playtest. Rivera says the last alpha labs “taught us a lot about which features feel really good, and which ones need more work,” with more opportunities for team play, decreasing downtime, and improving controls at the top of the list. Besides that, you don’t have long to wait until the next 2XKO playtest.

“You’ll get the chance to tell us what you think of all these changes during our next playtest, which we’re aiming to host in spring 2025,” Riot explains “This playtest will be available in more regions than our first alpha lab, and while we’ll definitely want to know if we improved on what y’all saw this August, we’ll be asking for your feedback on some new features, too (but more on those another time).”

Riot adds that Jinx will be a playable 2XKO character during the next playtest, and that after her new trailer, she’s going to get a “full reveal” closer to the playtest’s launch.
