Fisher is one of the five professions available in Hopeport town in Brighter Shores. As you start out in this old-school MMORPG, one of your first goals will be leveling up to 60. Even though you are just a new guard recruit in this port town, it doesn’t stop you from picking other professions.
After reaching Guard level 15, Corporal Binns will ask you to raise your total level to 60 and suggest progressing in other professions. By talking to him, you can find out how to get started with other professions, such as Forager, Chef, and Fisher. Among these, Fisher is one of the easiest professions to level up in Brighter Shores. In this guide, you will learn everything related to fishing to help you become a successful fisherman in Brighter Shores.

Factions determine what class you get in Brighter Shores, and if you aren’t sure which one to pick, here a quick overview of the available options.
How To Unlock Fishing In Brighter Shores
To unlock fishing in Brighter Shores, you will need to purchase a Fishing Spear from Melv’s Fishing Supplies Store located in the Town Square of Hopeport. The Fishing Spear is a one-time purchase and costs 12 Silver coins. If you are struggling to collect coins, defeating enemies, sparring against other guards, and opening chests inside the Barracks are some easy ways to earn money in Brighter Shores.
After purchasing the Fishing Spear, you have completed the first step on the path to becoming the best fisherman. Next, you will need to find a fishing spot. While completing the tutorial mission, you might have come across the Eel Street Bridge, a great fishing spot for catching eels. Unfortunately, eels are available only after you reach Fisher level 2. Initially, you will need to catch a number of Mottled Flounders found on East Beach to reach level 2.
How To Unlock Fishing Rod & Bait In Brighter Shores
After reaching Fisher level 20, you will encounter Common Dabs, a type of fish that requires you to use a Fishing Rod and bait. Like the Fishing Spear, you will need to visit Melv’s Fishing Supplies Store to purchase the Fishing Rod for 72 Silver coins. Once you have purchased a Fishing Rod, you will be able to use baits to catch fish. Unlike fish caught with the Fishing Spear, fish caught with Fishing Rods using bait are stored in a crate.
You can also purchase baits from Melv’s Fishing Supplies Store. As Brighter Shores features a huge variety of fish, the type of bait also varies from one fish to another. You can read the Rod Fishing Guide at Melv’s Fishing Supplies Store to find out which bait you need for specific fish.
