Best Cards To Use Against Mewtwo Ex Decks In Pokemon TCG Pocket

Best Cards To Use Against Mewtwo Ex Decks In Pokemon TCG Pocket

Mewtwo is already iconic as it is, being the Pokemon with the iconic 150 number in the first Pokedex and an artificially created ‘mon based on the DNA of the legendary Mew. It is also one of the best decks in Pokemon Pocket. With the right setup, this powerful Psychic-type ex Pokemon can one-hit-KO just about any Pokemon in the game.

Pokemon Pocket: How To Build A Mewtwo Ex And Gardevoir Deck

Stack Psychic energy while disrupting your opponent’s strategy with this dangerous Mewtwo ex deck.

With the help of the Gardevoir evolution line, the deck can generate copious amounts of extra energy to offset the cost of discarding two of them for the incredible Psydrive attack. Dealing with these cards can be difficult, so we’ve listed some options that’ll help you take down the Psychic deck before it spirals into another win.

10

Sabrina

The Queen Of Swapping

Mewtwo ex decks will usually opt to start Mewtwo in the active slot and a Ralts on the bench, ready to start building it up. With this wonderful Supporter, you can switch them out and take care of the problem right at the root.

Even though Sabrina lends the opponent the choice of picking which Pokemon will go up to the active spot, if the player doesn’t plan accordingly, they will lose their precious Ralts to a stray attack of just about any of your Pokemon.

Timing a Sabrina just right will set back your opponent a couple of turns, especially if they don’t have an X-Speed.

9

Pikachu Ex

The Fastest Deck In The Game

Even though Mewtwo is a powerhouse that can easily defeat any deck in the game, it takes a bit to set up and get going. On the other hand, Pikachu ex is one of the fastest decks in the game and can easily run the Psychic-type without much fuss.

With an excellent opening hand of two basic Pokemon and two Poke Ball item cards, Pikachu ex will be primed for a two-hit KO before Mewtwo can even find a Gardevoir card in their deck.

8

Articuno Ex

Freeze Your Opponent’s Bench

Articuno can be a bit slow to set up, but with a lucky Misty coin flip, you can easily garner enough energy to start chipping away at those pesky benched Pokemon. At 80 damage, Articuno ex can easily two-shot Mewtwo and maintain its ground to defeat another Pokemon on the following turn, earning you the victory.

Pokemon Pocket: How To Build A Starmie And Articuno ex Deck

Here’s how to build a deck centered around the top-tier Starmie ex and Articuno ex cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

Most of the time, Articuno ex is a backup for most Water-type decks, making the well-rounded Starmie ex an even better choice for the battle against the Psychic-type.

7

Starmie Ex

Easy To Play Aggressive Deck

Starmie ex cannot hit benched Pokemon like Articuno ex, but it can set up so fast that it will be your go-to Pokemon in the active spot. With an easy two energy, your Starmie ex will be able to deal a constant 90 damage to any Pokemon, making light work of any Mewtwo in your path.

By the time you have a fully set up Starmie, the opposing Mewtwo will only be able to hit you for 50 damage, allowing you to defeat the Psychic Pokemon on the following turn before they can get a single Psydrive off.

6

Frosmoth

Time To Say Goodnight

Frosmoth might not seem like a huge threat, but when speaking of effect conditions in Pokemon Pocket, Sleep is one of the best ones in the game. Frosmoth can inflict Sleep every turn, locking your opponent from switching out their Mewtwo, or Gardevoir, if you can combo it with a Sabrina.

Even if the opposing Pokemon is able to wake up, Frosmoth can still deal 40 damage, which may not seem as much, but it can play as a makeshift wall while you set up your remaining Pokemon.

5

Charizard Ex

Charizard can be difficult to build. Its most powerful attack, Crimson Storm, costs a whopping four energy and will discard two at the end of the attack. Sadly, Charizard does not have any energy generators like Gardevoir to upset the cost, but when set up properly, the mighty fire lizard can one-hit-KO Mewtwo.

Out of the frying pan…

If you manage to pull a Moltres ex, the Charizard deck gets vastly better, but the only condition is you’ll have to rely on coin flips to set up Charizard for victory.

4

Venusaur Ex

The Highest HP In The Game

At a huge 190 HP, not even the mighty Mewtwo ex can topple the colossal Venusaur. With that much HP, a couple of Potions, and some Erikas by your side, you’ll have Mewtwo ex players pulling their hair trying to defeat the Kanto starter Pokemon.

The deck has tons of options to heal damage, so even if they manage to Psydrive once, if you draw the perfect hand, Venasaur ex will be able to survive a follow-up attack after Gardevoir buffs Mewtwo back up to four energy.

3

Dragonite

The Dragon-Type Powerhouse

Dragonite is one of the wild card in the Genetic Apex booster set. This mighty and fan-favorite dragon can hit hard with its Draco Meteor attack, choosing four random Pokemon and dealing 50 damage to each one.

This attack can stack, so if you’re lucky, Draco Meteor will be able to match Charizard’s ex’s Crimson Storm’s 200 damage without the penalty of discarding a couple of energy off of your Pokemon. Sadly Dragonite requires two of the four energy to be a water and a lightning one, making the deck a bit random at times.

2

Misty

Let’s Go Gambling

Using Misty is always going to be a gamble. You can only use a single supporter every turn, so you want them to be quite impactful. Misty will let you flip coins until you land on tails and then award one of your Pokemon free energy for each head flipped.

This card can be extremely strong going first since you can cheat out the lack of energy that first-turn players have. If you’re super lucky, you can even win in the first turn, provided that your opponent doesn’t put up a bench.

1

Red Card

You’re Out!

Red Card Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Art.

This one can be a bit tricky. Mewtwo ex relies on finding their Gardevoir line as fast as possible, so using a Red Card can be a huge gamble as it will shuffle your opponent’s hand back into the deck, and they will draw three cards. You’ll either get rid of their next evolution or possibly give them the card they were looking for the entire time.

Luckily, you can pair Red Card with Hand Scope in order to look at your opponent’s hand before you fully commit to shuffling the cards back.
