Pikachu ex decks are fast, can hit hard, and with the game’s mechanic of always giving you a basic Pokemon in your opening hand, your chances of seeing Pikachu early are quite high.

Aerodactyl
Send Those Pesky Pokemon Back To The Deck
Aerodactyl can be a controversial pick. The fossil Pokemon doesn’t actually do any damage, but with two colorless energies attached, which can be any type of energy, Aerodactyl can send the opposing Pokemon back to the deck.
Aerodactyl is more of a tech choice, as it is not as consistent as you might think. In order for Aerodactyl’s attack to work, you will need to flip a coin and land on heads. Luckily, at 100 HP, you will get two chances to bounce back Pikachu before your opponent can defeat your Aerodactyl.

Arbok
Lock Down Your Opponent
Just like Aerodactyl, Arbok boasts a whopping 100 HP that will be able to tank two full Pikachu ex Circle Circuit attacks. Just watch out if your opponent has Giovanni. The Darkness-type Pokemon found in the first set, Genetic Apex, all revolve around Wheezing’s ability, Gas Leak, which will poison your opponent’s active Pokemon.
With Arbok’s attack, Corner, your opponent will be unable to retreat their Pokemon, locking their active Pokemon on a 1v1 against the deadly snake. If you can set up an Arbok before your opponent, that Pikachu will be easily removed in two turns.

Sabrina
Let’s Not Deal With That
Just like you’re doing with your school assignment that you should be working on, but instead, you’re knee-deep in PVP matches, you can always just put off dealing with that Pikachu ex later. Sabrina is one of the best supporter cards in the game, as she is able to remove an active threat and have your opponent swap out to one of their benched Pokemon.

Sabrina can help you deal with a Pokemon on the bench, making Pikachu’s Circle Circuit a bit weaker, especially if they don’t have another basic Pokemon in hand. This can also give you an extra turn to set up a Pokemon of your own.

Hitmonlee
Hit Them With The Stanky Leg
The bench is the most important thing for Pikachu ex decks to set up. Without it, Pikachu will not be able to do as much damage as it could. So what if you remove the bench outright? Hitmonlee is the best man for the job. It’s a bit of an awkward card as its only attack can only damage benched Pokemon, but in the case of Pikachu ex, it can be quite a menace if set up properly.
Even though Hitmonlee cannot directly deal with Pikachu’s ex, its low energy cost allows you to set up your own bench while disrupting your opponent’s.

Marowak Ex
High Damage If You’re Lucky
One of the reasons Pikachu ex is one of the best decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket is, surprisingly, its weakness. Pikachu ex is weak against fighting-type attacks, but there aren’t many good fighting Pokemon in the game that can contest the top spot, except for Marowak ex.
This card can deal up to 160 damage if you manage to flip double heads with its Boomerang attack. Even at one head, Marowak ex can deal 100 damage to any Fighting-type weak Pokemon.

Venusaur Ex
That’s A Lot Of HP
Pikachu ex can be quite fast, but it has a hard time getting over bulky Pokemon like Venusaur ex. The original grass starter Pokemon holds a whopping 190 HP, which will take Pikachu quite a while to take care of, forcing them to switch out to a Zapdos ex and have luck on their side.

Even if your opponent’s Pikachu ex sets up faster than you, Venusaur ex can keep up with the constant barrage of attacks with its healing attacks, plus most grass decks will run a couple of copies of Erika as backup.

Charizard Ex
Let’s Set The Seas Ablaze!
At 180 HP, Charizard ex is at the exact number that Pikachu ex needs to two-turn KO. It may not seem great at first, but with the right setup, a single Charizard ex can blow any card in a Pikachu ex deck. Its Crimson Storm attack can take a while to set up, and discarding two energy can seem counterintuitive, but repelling a single Pikachu ex might be all you need to turn the tides of battle.
Even though Charizard ex is the protagonist in this deck, a Moltres ex inclusion, along with some coin-flipping luck, is absolutely necessary if you are to rout the small yellow rat quickly.

Mewtwo Ex
The Best Deck
How do you beat a meta deck? Another meta deck, obviously. Mewtwo ex is the other best deck in the game for a reason. its Psydrive attack can quickly remove any threat thrown at you from the Pikachu ex player, and paired with a Gardevoir engine, this deck will chain Psydrive attacks every turn, despite its energy discard cost.
Not only can Mewtwo ex make quick work of Pikachu ex, but its other attack, Psychic Sphere, paired with a Giovanni, can one-shot just about any other basic Pokemon, outside of Zapdos ex, that the deck plays.
The Off-Meta Pick
Melmetal comes with a ton of problems. It has relatively low HP at 130, it has a single attack that requires a lot of energy to perform, and overall, steel-type Pokemon found in Genetic Apex aren’t very good.
This card is very good at one-shotting Pikachu ex any time of the day. Sure, its HP is low compared to a lot of other options, but its Hard Coat ability can possibly keep you in the battle a bit longer.

Dragonite
The Best Boy Is Here
Sadly, there aren’t many Dragon-type Pokemon outside of the Dragonite evolution line in Genetic Apex, but if you can play it correctly, its Draco Meteor attack can be devastating against any Pikachu ex deck.
It takes quite a bit of energy at four, one being Water and one Lightning, adding a bit of randomness and inconsistency in building a Dragonite, but once you are able to proc it, Draco Meteor will randomly select a Pokemon four times and deal 50 damage each time. If luck is on your side, you can knock out a couple of benched Pokemon or even Pikachu ex itself.
