Key Takeaways
- Cassidy’s ultimate ability in Overwatch 2 is powerful and can wipe out entire teams.
- One player, CryBears, hilariously wasted Cassidy’s ultimate on Route 66 map.
- Overwatch fans can expect a limited-time Overwatch: Classic mode on Nov. 12 and new tank hero “Phreak” in Season 14.
Overwatch 2‘s Cassidy has one of the game’s more powerful ultimate abilities, but one player wastes it in an unfortunate, yet super funny play. Season 13 is still underway in Overwatch 2, and the game’s Halloween Terror event has been extended an extra few days into November. The witch-themed season brought about Widowmaker’s mythic skin, as well as other witch skins for heroes like Junker Queen, Ana, and Mei.
One of the original Overwatch heroes from 2016, Cassidy’s Deadeye ultimate ability, also known as “High Noon,” is one of the most well-known ultimates of the whole roster. Spawning tons of memes in the early days of Overwatch, it’s also one of the more devastating ults, and can wipe out an entire team in the right hands. The ability gives the player seven seconds to slowly lock onto and mark enemy targets, with tanks taking longer to lock onto. Upon hitting the trigger, all marked targets are insta-killed as Cassidy fans the hammer.

Overwatch 2 Dev Reveals Most Toxic Ranks
A developer working on Overwatch 2 reveals the most toxic ranks players can encounter while climbing the Competitive ladder in the game.
One Cassidy player, CryBears on Reddit, posted a 12-second clip of their unfortunate use of the character’s Deadeye ability on Overwatch 2‘s Route 66 map. Walking up the ramp along the left side of the map’s starting area, CryBears activates Deadeye with only the opposing Juno in sight. However, choosing to forego the death-marked Juno, CryBears slowly walks around the corner into a cave to meet the opposing team’s Reaper, who instinctively enters Wraith form to become un-markable as Cassidy’s ultimate ends. They both hilariously stand and stare at each other for a beat before the Reaper activates their own Death Blossom ultimate in the Cassidy player’s face, brutally killing them.
Hilarious Overwatch 2 Cassidy Ultimate Ends In Disaster
Judging by the way CryBears passed up on the Juno solo kill, it seems that they were simply having some lighthearted fun and that this wasn’t a serious use of Cassidy’s Deadeye ability. The tone of CryBears’ “No one will expect this” to open the clip seems to support this. Most Overwatch 2 players in that same scenario would likely have taken that solo Juno kill, as taking one of the opposing team’s supports out of the fight can be super valuable, but seeing how the opposing Reaper also wasted their ultimate, this was likely just some light fun in Quick Play.
These next few weeks are going to be huge for Overwatch fans, as Blizzard just announced a limited-time Overwatch: Classic mode coming on November 12 that will see the brief return of 6v6. Additionally, with Season 14 also right around the corner next month, fans should expect Blizzard to reveal the newest tank hero, unofficially known as “Phreak,” sometime in the coming weeks as well.
