In Dragon Age: The Veilguard, rings are much more than a fashion choice – especially because they don’t appear on your character’s fingers, anyway. Instead, their job here is to enhance your character’s stats, which may come as simple boosters to your damage, resistance, or others, or they offer unique traits for you, as well.

Thus, it’s imperative to pay close attention to all the rings you get and see which ones match whatever build you’re going for with your character – there are many options, after all. Since you can also equip two of those at once, you can find two that synergize with your character, too, which is a nice bonus.

Band Of Smoke
Or Similar
The Band of Smoke gives you resistance to cold damage, increases the damage of cold-based attacks you have, gives you a separate damage boost to your cold attacks when you’re damaging someone’s health bar instead of their barrier or armor, and lastly, part of your damage output from other damage types will also be applied to your cold damage.
If this particular one isn’t as interesting for you, there are similar rings that give you damage boosts to other damage types, such as Focus of the Veil for electric damage, Precious Decay for necrotic, and Warden’s Signet for fire.
9
Biting Thumb
Tear Down Their Defenses
The Biting Thumb comes with small boosts, but they apply to any weapon attack, regardless of their damage type, making it well-rounded. It also improves the damage of your charged attacks, as well as final and agile attacks.
They also come with a substantial boost to all weapon damage you do against barriers and armor, so if you think you’re having a hard time with those, the thumb can help you out here.
8
Bleeding Shard
Now Tear Them Down
Assuming your enemies’ barriers and armor are taken care of, you can speed up the process of killing them by applying the bleeding condition on them. With this ring, bleeding will cause more damage and last for a longer time.
It will also increase your damage whenever you hit someone who already has a bleeding effect on them, speeding things up even further. Your enemies won’t stand a chance.
7
Brass Bandage
Live Dangerously
At first, this ring will simply give you a few health boosts, making it a nice pick in the early game – especially if you’re playing with a squishy character. However, once you upgrade it further, it gets interesting in a dangerous way.

You’ll get a damage boost whenever you’re at low health and then another bigger damage boost relative to the amount of health you’re currently missing. In other words, the lower your health, the more painful your strikes will be.
Keep in mind that these items won’t have all their stats unlocked right away. You have to increase their item rarity by finding copies of these items scattered throughout Thedas.

Glacial Talus
For The Mages
If you need mana, you should get the ability to recover it manually. Other than that, you should also use this ring; it lets you recover a bit of mana anytime you kill someone, it increases its base regeneration, and it even increases your maximum mana.
If that’s not enough, it also increases your overall damage based on the current amount of mana you have. This means that if you can manually recover mana, you’ll also boost your damage just by leaving the mana bar full.
5
Igneous Fist
Or Similar, Part 2
This ring also has a few variations, and it’s up to you to decide if any of them are fit for your character. If you have flaming weapons, Igneous Fist will increase its duration, and it will increase even further when properly upgraded.
You also have Exacting Shard for necrotic damage and Thrumming Rock for shocking weapons, though it gives you more bonuses compared to the other two, as it increases damage from shocking abilities as well when you have a shocking weapon active.
4
Paragon’s Knuckle
Endure And Survive
Another fun option for a squishy character is the Paragon’s Knuckle. It comes with a few boosts to your overall defense, and it increases your resistance whenever you are at low health. The fun part comes when it’s fully upgraded, though.
When fully upgraded, you can never take damage higher than 25 percent of your maximum health from a single strike. Basically, if you’re at full health and take an attack that would normally put you at low health right away, you’ll instead only lose a fourth of your health. And that’s a passive stat, so it applies to all hard-hitting attacks.
3
Unburnable Band
If you’re relying on fire damage a lot, chances are you’re often giving your enemies the burning condition. So why not add the band and make your burning even stronger? It’ll increase the burning damage you cause and its duration, too.

Then, the damage you cause with your attacks will also increase if the target has the burning condition. Basically, it’s similar to the Bleeding Shard but with a different condition.
2
Crookytail’s Crest
Another boost for your flaming weapons is available with this crest. If your flaming weapon is active, you can use a charged attack to cause fire-based area damage around the target you hit. Doing that will deactivate your flaming weapon, however.
There’s also a similar item, the Shard of the Void, that does the same with shocking weapons, so it’s up to you to see which of these works for your character, if any. They’re great options for AoE (area of effect) damage, though.
1
Call Of The Hall
For People Who Enjoy Takedowns
If you’re going to the Hall of Valor, you can get this nice ring for you, particularly useful if you enjoy staggering your foes for a takedown. It increases your stagger, and the damage will also increase when you perform a takedown on someone.
Plus, whenever you perform a takedown, you’ll get a random buff for yourself, which is always a good thing, even if you don’t have any control over what it’ll be. Beat people up and get more powerful for it.
