Key Takeaways
- A new Pokemon website has gone live, which is a collaboration between The Pokemon Company and ILCA.
- During the Game Freak leaks, a project codenamed “Synapse” was revealed, meaning the website could be in reference to that.
- It’s unclear what Synapse is, but it could be its own title, or another remake similar to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
A new Pokémon game is seemingly in the works, according to information shared by Centro Leaks, a Pokémon rumors account. However, in a potentially disappointing twist, the game appears to be another collaboration between ILCA and Nintendo.
As first spotted on Twitter by Centro, a new website titled “pokemonworks.co.jp” is now up and running. That is the official site for the collaboration between The Pokemon Company and ILCA, the team behind Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
The website is short on details, but it does have this in its “About Me” description:
That is why we will create an experience that makes Pokémon more real and more familiar, while cherishing the world view and “identity,” so that everyone can enjoy meeting and adventure with Pokémon.
As far as what the new experience could be, well, there are a few running ideas.
Project Synapse Is A Go
As Pokemon fans might remember, during the massive batch of Game Freak leaks, a project codenamed “Synapse” was shared online. It’s set to be a new title by ILCA and Game Freak, and while it was originally rumored to be some sort of MMO or online multiplayer title, that has since been walked back.
If the project isn’t an MMO, then it would be wise to assume that it’ll be another remake of sorts. As mentioned above, ILCA was responsible for the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl ports for Nintendo Switch. While disappointing for some, the ports sold over 14 million units, making them not only the best-selling Pokemon remakes, but on pace to surpass the original titles.
Black and White have been the constant source of remake rumors, though they were not part of this most recent leak. Alternatively, ILCA could end up with its own solo title, given that the studio also helped ship One Piece Odyssey and Sand Land. Only time will tell what does happen, but it’s clear that “Synapse” is a go.
