What’s The Difference Between Buying From Build/Buy And Buying From Waylon?

If you’re looking to get your Sim a pet in The Sims 4: Life & Death, you’ve got a handful of ways to get a crow. Critically, though, the two purchasing methods provide some difference in the level of care your pet crow will need. Crows from Build/Buy have to be fed and cleaned, while you’ll find crows from Waylon have only a social need to worry about.

If you buy your crow from Waylon Warez, the Mysterious Merchant you’ll see emerging from the various crypts around Ravenwood to peddle a selection of curious, supernatural goods. Among them is the Grim Ascendant Crow. Waylon charges §1,000 for the Grim Ascendant Crow.

Headed to the Ravenwood Family Day festival that happens every Saturday in Crow’s Crossing? You can speak with the Sim near the food buffet in the corner furthest from the Eternal Rest cemetery to learn a little about the care and keeping of crows, and you can even meet a crow firsthand to see if they fit your Sims’ lifestyles.

If you’re not looking to track to Waylon, then you can also buy a crow from Build/Buy mode. They’re available in the Pet Furniture category for §825. Regardless, once you get a Grim Ascendant Crow in your household, interacting with it will yield one of the 26 tarot card collectibles.

How Do You Care For A Crow?

Once you’ve purchased a crow, place it anywhere on your home lot to keep it as a pet. Once it’s in the house, you’ll have a number of ways to socialize with it, which is good, since the better your relationship with the crow, the more likely it is to give you treasures.

If you bought your crow from the Build/Buy catalog, you’ll need to be sure to feed it and clean its perch to keep it happy. Crows from Waylon seem to automatically be fed and cleaned up after, meaning you’ll only need to keep your crow socialized.

After you name your crow, if you’re looking to interact with your pet, you can do so a few different ways. If you’re not just Watching it, you can Show Affection, Teach Mimicry to see your crow attempting to recreate Simlish, Coo At the crow adoringly, Discuss Nefarious Plans with it. If you’re feeling a little Mischievous, you can even Provoke it.

Be mindful of provoking your crow too much – they can and will peck your Sim to death if you make them too annoyed! It warns you before this happens, and you’ll have the chance to show your crow some affection to counterbalance this, but if you carry on mocking it, you’ll likely be killed for the offense.

You’re also able to give your crow gifts to boost your relationship with it, offering them assorted items from your inventory as tokens. Your crow will develop an affinity for you over time as well, and it’ll eventually bring you gifts sometimes just like you give it!
