Helldivers 2 has had quite a rollercoaster since launching earlier this year. After a blockbuster start, things started to fall a bit when Arrowhead decided to nerf a number of fan-favourite weapons. However, things are back on track after the devs took some time to balance things to the community’s liking.

Helldivers 2 Isn’t A Dead Game, So Stop Calling It That
We need to stop using the term for games that simply don’t deserve it.
Since then Helldivers 2 players have been throwing ideas at the devs, in the hope that it will stick. While most of these are just to buff their favourite weapon or nerf a particular unit, some of the ideas are pretty good. For instance, one player took to Reddit to suggest that Exosuits should have the option to overload their cores into a Hellbomb.
A Walking Hellbomb
Ever since Super Earth liberated Tien Kwan, Helldivers have had the ability to call down Exosuits to aid them in culling hordes of bugs and bots. Unfortunately, we soon realised that they were glass cannons that were only suitable in certain mission types. This being the case, lunlunqq001’s suggestion might make these mechs a bit more useful.
Once it has lost both guns or taken too much damage, you could initiate self-destruct, like you would call in a stratagem, to overload the core and turn it into a mobile Hellbomb. From the comments, it seems like everyone likes the idea. There are already some players who like to scuttle the mech so that it doesn’t fall into the hands of the enemy as a form of role playing.
Arrowhead has a tradition of working updates into lore, so some of the comments even suggested introducing a major order where players need to retrieve self-destruct cores for the mechs.
This addition would also change the way mechs are used in the game. Instead of being used merely as defensive stratagems, they would make for great vanguard material. Imagine running into a bug nest with one of these, killing as many Terminids as possible, and setting the self-destruct off before rushing out.
While updating old stratagems is one thing, Arrowhead COO Johan Pilestedt has said that he would love to do crossovers with certain IPs like Aliens, Starship Troopers, and Terminator. However, he also stated that he wouldn’t want to go overboard by bringing just anyone into the game. Adding someone like Peter Griffin to the game would dilute it and make it a “not Helldivers” experience.

Helldivers 2 features Arrowhead’s best cooperative gameplay yet. Collaboration will be vital: Teams will synergize on loadouts, strategize their approach for each mission, and complete objectives together.
