Arkham Asylum Remake Rumours Are Untrue, Says Former Rocksteady Dev

Key Takeaways

  • Rumours have spread online, claiming that Rocksteady is working on a remake of Batman: Arkham Asylum.
  • Former senior character artist at Rocksteady, Del Walker, says this isn’t true.
  • Rocksteady is still releasing updates for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Rocksteady is not working on a remake of Batman: Arkham Asylum, says a former developer. This comes after rumours to the contrary gained traction on social media, and were picked up by some news outlets.

Del Walker, who worked at Rocksteady as a senior character artist, has just shot these rumours down. On social media, he responded to one of the articles reporting on the rumour by simply stating that the studio is “not doing this”.

These rumours stem from content creator Vara Dark, who claimed to have been told by sources that Rocksteady has “internally greenlit” a remake of Batman: Arkham Asylum. She also claimed that the studio might be “continuing the Arkhamverse”.

Now, Del Walker says this is not the case, and says that these sources are not accurate.

As for what Rocksteady is working on, we’re still getting updates for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This is despite the game underperforming by Warner Bros. standards. If the initial roadmap is still accurate, then we should be getting an offline mode by the end of the year, since it can only be played online right now, although we still don’t have a release date for this.

On the other hand, the Arkhamverse is set to continue with Batman: Arkham Shadow, although this is being developed by Camouflaj. It will be a VR-exclusive release.
