  • Asmongold revealed that he chose not to press charges.

Twitch streamer Asmongold recently revealed that he was contacted by the FBI over an incident where it seemed that a fellow streamer had put a bounty on his head. Asmongold is one of Twitch‘s most popular and controversial streamers.

In October, Asmongold was banned from Twitch for two weeks after making offensive statements about Palestinians. In the aftermath of the incident, Asmongold stepped away from OTK and other companies where he held leadership positions. Asmongold has since returned to Twitch and has issued an apology. He said that his viewers “deserve more” than what he said during the stream and promised to “do better.”

Asmongold Returns to Twitch and Comments on Past Behavior

Asmongold is back on Twitch after his 14-day ban from the platform and shares thoughts about his past behavior with his viewers.

Since returning to Twitch, Asmongold has streamed the newly-released Dragon Age: The Veilguard and has provided commentary on various goings-on in the world. In a recent stream, Asmongold was asked by a viewer about an incident from earlier this year where fellow streamer Denims was accused of putting a $30,000 bounty on him, yet somehow didn’t get banned from Twitch. Asmongold explained that he was actually contacted by the FBI about the incident, but he chose not to pursue any charges because she was “joking around” and that, after re-watching the clip, “she clearly was not talking about me.”

While Denims was apparently not banned for that particular incident, the streamer is currently banned on Twitch for something else entirely at the time of this writing. Twitch banned Denims and a handful of other streamers for “hateful conduct.” It’s believed that the bans came about due to a TwitchCon panel where Denims and the other participants were accused by some of being antisemitic. However, it’s entirely possible that the bans are related to something else, as Twitch has not provided specifics beyond that the bans were doled out for “hateful conduct.” In any case, this marks the second time that Denims has been banned from Twitch, with the first ban taking place in November of 2023. Denims’ current Twitch ban is expected to last for 30 days, meaning she will most likely return to Twitch at some point at the end of November.

Twitch has promised to be more transparent about bans, though that doesn’t mean viewers will be alerted to the exact reasons why certain streamers have been banned. Instead, the streamers themselves will be provided with the clip showing what they did to get banned, which should hopefully alleviate a lot of confusion when it comes to the platform’s moderation practices.
