The Veilguard Player Stats Reveal Most Popular Rook Backgrounds

Key Takeaways

  • BioWare reveals early player stats for Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
  • This reveals that most players choose to make their Rook a human, mage, and either a Grey Warden or a Shadow Dragon.
  • The most unpopular race by far is dwarf.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard lets you choose from three classes, four races and six factions to make up your Rook’s background. However, as is inevitable, some are proving to be much, much more popular than others.

According to player stats released by BioWare, those preferences are already emerging. Here, we can see that most Dragon Age: The Veilguard players made their Rook a human, with elf in close second. Qunari and dwarf are miles behind in comparison, with just six percent of Rooks being dwarven.

BioWare Reveals Dragon Age: The Veilguard Player Stats

Going through all the categories, the most popular choices when making a Rook are mage, human, and Grey Warden or Shadow Dragon. This is making my darling mage human Grey Warden, Beatrice Throne, look rather boring. In my defence, I really missed Dragon Age: Origins.

Elves aren’t too far behind, with 40 percent of players opting to play as them, as opposed to 43 percent playing as humans. This isn’t too surprising, since elves play a major part in the overall story, given that it’s their gods who are attacking Thedas.

As for the backgrounds, it’s unsurprising to see Grey Wardens and Shadow Dragons neck and neck. The former has been a huge part of the lore since the first game, so returning players likely want to be a Warden again. As for the Shadow Dragons, they’re arguably the most virtuous faction there is, so perfect for anyone wanting to play as a good guy.

Other than that, it’s a fairly even split among the factions. Antivan Crows are in third, as they are another returning faction. In last, we have the Mourn Watch, but the gap isn’t as drastic as it is in other categories.

So, if you want to make the most unique Rook out there, go for a dwarven Mourn Watch member. You’ll certainly stand out amongst us humans proudly bearing the Grey Warden colours, or helping the Shadow Dragons.
