Is Pokemon Pocket or TCG Live the very best like no one ever was?
Genetic Apex Pikachu contains some of the best Electric Pokemon in the game. Don’t let the cover fool you though, these packs also contain some of the top-tier cards for other types, including Energy acceleration methods and Pokemon that can stall for time in a variety of different decks.
10
Blastoise ex
The Might Of Water Pokemon
If your preferred starter is Squirtle, then you’ll find the entire line in Genetic Apex Pikachu. This is where you can pull a Blastoise ex and do some real damage to your opponent. This is a card with options for whether you want to hit for small damage with Surf or go all in with Hydro Bazooka.
It’s good that this card is in this specific pack because if you’re trying to get everything you need to complete this line for your deck, you’ll also stumble across plenty of other Water Pokemon that can pair well with Blastoise.
9
Lt. Surge
Power Up Your Electric Pokemon
Considering the pack is themed after Pikachu, it’s no surprise that this is where you can find Lt. Surge. This card will help you move any existing Energy on the field to your RaichU, Electrode, or Electabuzz that are currently in the Active Spot. It can also save your Energy if you need to permanently Bench one of your damaged Pokemon.
If you’re planning to unlock the full potential of Lt. Surge then you’ll be happy to know that every card mentioned in the text is also available in this set. So just by continuously hitting this pack, you’ll get all the Pokemon you need to make a unique Electric deck.
8
Gyarados
An Oppressive Force
If Energy acceleration is a dream come true, then Gyarados is a nightmare due to how it can bring your opponent’s strategy to a halt. It can do 100 damage for four Energy but also rips one random Energy from whatever it hits.
So if your opponent is desperately trying to power up their most expensive Moves, Gyarados simply says no and forces them to focus on whatever they have on the Bench instead. As a Stage One Pokemon, it also isn’t too difficult to get this on the field before your opponent finishes setting up all their Energy. Just make sure you bring some Energy acceleration cards.
7
Butterfree
Pokemon Pocket’s Resident Medic
Is your Pokemon taking too much damage? Retreat it and send Butterfree in. Butterfree can hit for 60 damage and heal your Pokemon for 20 each turn. However, here’s a trick only pros know. You can stack the healing effect of Powder Heal.
So, with two Butterfree on the Bench, that’s a whopping 40 HP getting healed each turn for all of your Pokemon. Of course, this means shoving two copies of Caterpie, Metapod, and Butterfree into your deck. The game might even be over before you get them both in play. However, just the fact that stacking them is a possibility already makes this an excellent card.
6
Omastar
Consistent Stuns
The good thing about the Omastar line is that including it will not interfere with your ability to get your preferred Basic Pokemon on the field. This is because its first form is an Item. Therefore, it doesn’t count when the game automatically gives you a Basic on the first turn.
Omastar is also just worth it because it can take advantage of Misty, do 70 damage, and force your opponent to retreat their Active Pokemon if they want to attack. This is because Omastar stops whichever Pokemon it hits from being able to use their Moves. Keep doing this over and over, and you’ve got an amazing stun strategy.
5
Electrode
An Easy Escape
Electrode is one of the best Electric-type Pokemon you can find in the game, and you can get your hands on it by pulling from the Pikachu packs. The good thing about this card is that it doesn’t take up too much space in your deck and pulling Voltorb is not a bad Basic Pokemon to start with.

Here are the best Darkness-Type cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket!
Once Voltorb Evolves intro Electrode, it can do 70 damage for two Energy and can Retreat for free. So, unlike other Evolved Pokemon that force you to pay something or draw into X Speed to get the one you actually want from the Bench on Active, this one knows when to roll out.
4
Zapdos ex
Genetic Apex Pikachi’s Legendary Bird
Zapdos ex may be a legendary bird, but it is a swift one. It can Retreat at the cost of only one Energy but is also strong enough to be the only Pokemon in a deck made up of only Items and Supporters.
If Zapdos ex hits your field first, you can start attacking for 20 at only one Energy. By the time Zapdos gets three Energy on it, you can start doing up to 200 damage each turn if you get lucky with your coin flips. However, because this comes to 50 damage per coin flip, the odds of you landing big damage on your opponent are always in your favor.
3
Dugtrio
A Rising Threat
Dugtrio is an underrated Pokemon but in Pokemon TCG Pocket it is proving to be powerful tech for Fighting decks. This is because it is a Stage One Pokemon that can be ready to fight at only one Energy. This means Dig can do 40 damage very early in the game.
However, it also has a killer coin flip effect, which means if you land on heads, it protects Dugtrio from any attacks. Keep in mind that this specifically protects it from damage and doesn’t stop your opponent’s Active Pokemon from attacking. This specific wording means that even if they switch out their Pokemon, their attacks still won’t do anything to Dugtrio.
2
Misty
The Best Energy Acceleration Card
Misty is one of the best cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket because it gives you a chance to attack on the first turn. Its presence in the Pikachu Pack makes it one of the first packs you want to focus on.
Keep flipping coins till you land on tails and for each head, you can give one of your Pokemon an extra Energy. This will turbocharge your best Water Pokemon. The only downside about this pack is that some of the most meta Water-type Pokemon are in different packs.
1
Pikachu ex
The Pack Art Doesn’t Lie
Pokemon wouldn’t make their headliner Pikachu a bad card, which is why Pikachu ex has plenty of features that make it the best card to pull from this specific pack.
With a low retreat cost, an easy setup, and an advantage against some of the most powerful Pokemon in the game, Pikachu is bound to be at full power before your opponent can Evolve their Pokemon or get the Energy needed to start striking back. This can be a game-ender if your opponent doesn’t get the right cards on time. A consistent 90 damage for only two Energy on a full Bench is enough to knock out almost every single Pokemon in two hits unless they heal.
