Quidditch Champions Kicks Off Season 1

Quidditch Champions Kicks Off Season 1

Key Takeaways

  • Season 1 of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions introduces 6v6 Pro Quidditch Mode.
  • Players can enjoy new events, rewards, and broom skins throughout Season 1.
  • Technical updates include smaller Quidditch rings, Aim Assist in Campaign Mode, and 6v6 party system.

The first season of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is underway and includes a 6v6 mode, additional broomstick skins, and a host of technical updates. Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions was released in September 2024 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5. A Nintendo Switch version, along with physical editions of the game, were released on November 8, 2024.

Players were surprised to learn of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions when footage of the game first emerged in 2023. Many expected Quidditch to appear as additional content in Hogwarts Legacy, but Warner Bros confirmed in 2023 that there would be no additional content for the open-world RPG. With rumors now circulating that the original Hogwarts Legacy could see DLC in the form of a 15-hour story expansion, hope of seeing the sport in Avalanche’s open-world RPG seems unlikely. Still, with the first season of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions in full swing, there are new events and rewards for players to explore and earn.

The next major Harry Potter game, Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, is making the iconic PS1 Hagrid available as a cosmetic for players.

Season 1 of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions is titled Defence Against the Dark Arts, and sees the addition of a “Pro Quidditch Mode,” which introduces 6v6 PvP ranked matches. Here, two teams of six will compete in competitive matches to earn rewards, such as the new Hero skins for Bellatrix LeStrange and Severus Snape. Other quality-of-life features include making the Quidditch rings smaller and Aim Assist re-enabled in the Campaign Mode if playing on any mode lower than Champion.

During season 1, players will be able to take on Holiday-themed events throughout Hogwarts, including Holidays at Hogwarts events and the popular annual Yule Ball. Three new brooms will feature in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, each with its own set of skills, and a new Snowy Burrow map will also be available throughout the season.

The new 6v6 update further changes how matches in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions differ from the books. The Golden Snitch and the Seeker will be on the pitch at all times during a match, and players will not be able to swap between any of the on-field roles once the game has started. As a result of this, the Snitch race has been adjusted to compensate for the extra time on the field, along with reducing the spawn rates of players from 20 seconds down to just seven.

It remains to be seen how Season 1 of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions will land with the fans, but Warner Bros is firmly focused on providing access to the franchise. Avalanche is said to be working on Hogwarts Legacy 2, and production of the new Harry Potter TV show is about to begin, fans will surely be enjoying the Wizarding World for some time to come.
