Players who dreamed of wielding the power of some of the mightiest gods in history have the Smite franchise to thank, with the third-person action MOBA allowing the fanbase to do just that. Now, with the launch of Smite 2, players can be more immersed than ever with the sequel, which is powered by Unreal Engine 5, a vast upgrade from Unreal Engine 3.
The character list in Smite 2 is significantly smaller than its predecessor, but that won’t come as a surprise to fans of the franchise. While the original game boasts a huge roster, this was put together over several years. How Often Are New Gods Added To Smite 2?
In an exclusive interview with Game Rant, Hi-Rez Studios’ Alex Cantatore told us that the team behind the game have an aggressive plan to roll out additional characters into the sequel to the hugely popular Smite. With the original game amassing a total of 130 playable gods at the time of writing this, Cantatore admitted that it will take a while before players see the numbers that Smite players are currently enjoying.
With that said, the intention is for two new characters to be added to Smite 2 every three weeks. This could be in the form of two classic gods, like the first additions in Nu Wa and Amaterasu, or one new god and one classic god from the original game. Smite 2 already has two brand-new gods that are exclusive to the sequel in Hecate and Arthurian character Mordred.
