A Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player has found a needlessly difficult but commendable way of unlocking the first Korok in the Great Plateau. Typically, gamers would collect the Korok seed by walking over to the telltale ring of lily pads and jumping into them from a nearby ledge. In true Breath of the Wild fashion, though, someone discovered a much funnier yet challenging approach.
Breath of the Wild broke new ground by giving players seemingly limitless options to solve puzzles and tackle challenges however they want. It didn’t take much time for people to turn that into a game of who can find the most ridiculous and roundabout ways of completing the game possible. The 900 Korok seeds in Breath of the Wild provide plenty of opportunities to do just that.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 5 Hardest Korok Seeds To Get
There are plenty of Korok Seeds to hunt down in Breath of the Wild, but these are by far the most difficult to find.
Twitter user Pheasant_of_Hyrule posted their parkour-filled and Bokoblin-smashing Korok collection method on November 7, 2024, over seven years after the game’s release. Instead of jumping off the pond’s ledge like Nintendo likely wanted people to, they start by luring a Bokoblin near the base of the Temple of Time. They then shield bounce off the unsuspecting monster, killing it and sending Link flying. Once airborne again, Pheasant flies over the lily pad circle, dives in, and unlocks the seed. It’s certainly not the easiest way to get the first of the 18 Korok seeds on the Great Plateau, but it may be the most stylish.
People Are Still Finding New Breath of the Wild Tricks and Tips
Despite having several years with the game, Breath of the Wild players are still discovering new ways to play it. One fan found a glitch that makes BOTW‘s most powerful weapon unbreakable, and gamers like Pheasant_of_Hyrule are showing that humankind has not yet exhausted all the ways to unlock Korok seeds. Some may prefer to move on to Tears of the Kingdom at this point, but others are perfectly satisfied finding new and exciting ways to break the game.
BOTW‘s openness was a huge risk for the Zelda series, which had a long-held reputation for sticking to the formula before the Switch rolled around. It’s certainly paid off, though, if fans can come back to the game year after year and still not play it the same way twice. There are rumors that the franchise will move away from BOTW‘s gameplay structure in future entries, so it’ll be interesting to see how that impacts replayability. Whenever the next title comes and whatever it entails, there’s a good chance fans will still be discovering more about Breath of the Wild and its sequel.
